to relieve himself of all the stress from the new teaching job. But he couldn't seem to get his mind off the young woman, one of his students
, Eliza was it? She was indeed a pleasant girl to be with, and she had made things incredibly enjoyable throughout his stay here. Though
some time had passed and he was catching himself thinking of her more and more. Every day, he'd push away the feelings in hopes to keep his
job. But soon, it was no longer for his sake that he pushed the feelings away, but for hers. He thought differently now. 'What if she got
into trouble because of me?' Those thoughts had clung to his mind like a fish on a hook. Before he knew it, her happiness was all he could
think about. Quinn sighed, letting out a puff of smoke. This was the only way he knew how to cope whilst sober.
Perhaps it was unfortunate for her to have chosen to take a walk outside on a lovely Saturday, humming softly to herself with her headphones
on as she nonchalantly walked past a few buildings, hand gripping onto the sling of her bag - she planned to have some nice ice cream and a-
... no, apple cheesecake reminded her of him. She shook her head quietly at the thought, feeling her cheeks blooming red, and strolled a
bit faster along the pavement. Her eyes caught sight of two little kittens - perhaps squabbling over childish matters as she quickly walked
towards them, a wide smile on her face. Kittens are so adorable, and they were definitely a cheer-up charm to her. "Hey...", she called
out softly as she crouched down, hands reaching to gently separate the two a little and petted them. "No fighting, that's not good," she
giggled as one of them purred happily at the pet. "You two are so adorable!", she chided happily, not realizing that someone was watching
He stared. He couldn't help but stare these days. But suddenly, he felt more conscious of the stick in his hand and he threw the cigarette
to the ground. He then paused, hesitating a moment. "... E... Hey Eliza!" he called out, trying to sound enthusiastic. He worked on trying
not to look like he had been staring at her the moment he recognized who she was, so he gave a casual wave, almost having to drag his feet
off the ground to walk towards her-- to say hi of course. Just to see how she was doing. Last he remembered.... The Irishman nearly went
scarlet at the memory of her confession, but made it a point not to make this encounter awkward-- no that was not going to happen, not under
The moment she heard her name - no, his voice, Eliza quickly stood frozen with a small squeak, eyes widening. Wh - she slowly turned
around just to find her English tutor approaching her, much to her delight nightmare. "G-G-Good a-afternoon, Mr. McKinley...!," she
piped up at the same attempt of trying to act casual, however failing miserably as she began to frantically look around. "I - uh - I- I
didn't know you were ar - I'll just - these kitties - I-I better leave," she quickly stammered, avoiding his gaze as much as possible as she
turned around, about to walk away.
"Wh- Wait hold up!" he gently grabbed her arm. "Eliza? P-Pff yeh look like m' 'bout t' scold yeh." he playfully spun her around to face him
. "Don' be so formal, we aren' ev'n at school! Call me Quinn, yeah?" he gave a smile, which wasn't hard to do since he felt a strange
happiness just seeing her. "... Yeh aren'... Mad at me are yeh?" he asked sheepishly. In school, he was formal and every bit a teacher as
the students dreaded. Outside? He was definitely someone easier to express feelings. "Ah don' wan' yeh t' be mad at me.. Wha' can ah do t'
make ih up t' yeh, lass?"
This was probably the moment where she wished she still couldn't understand his ridiculously heavy Irish accented words. She wanted to say
sorry over and over again, and another squeak escaped her as she spun her to face him, her cheeks red. "I - ...Q... Quinn-," she softly
murmured, feeling odd from pronouncing his name. She knew that was his first name, but it had never crossed her mind to call him that. "No,
I-I'm not mad at you..." She murmured with a small smile, still avoiding his gaze despite being extremely fidgety with this awkward
encounter. "It's just - well, it's a bit... embarrassing, a-after what happened..."
"Ah..." he said softly, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "Wull... Then le's jus' break tha' ice! How 'bout Ah treat yeh t' some ice cream?"
he smiled, winking at her before leaning back, shoving his hands in his pockets. "Ih's Saturday after all, m' sure ah can spend a moment"
"Break the ice...?" She looked at him with raised eyebrows, before slowly nodding. "I... sure...?" She began, but quickly panicked as she
backed away a little. "B-But if you really have some work to handle, i-it's okay I'll just go buy one myself! A-and I was planning to buy
one for myself, a-actually, so it's okay!", she chirped in an almost high pitch, her cheeks bright red.
"Oh! Better! Yeh buy yeh're ice cream, ah'll jus' tag along. Ah wan'ed some 'nyway!" he grinned. "Mnn... No work. No' tha' ah know of." he
laughed heartily, ruffling her hair gently. It was natural that he was so casual around other people outside work, he had to keep reminding
himself not to do anything stupid-- she was still a student and he was still a teacher. But in the same breath he.... "Ah, shall we go?"
could only nod quietly as they began walking along the path, side by side, and she awkwardly tucked her hair behind her ear, chewing on her
lower lip. W-why was this happening, even... this was the exact reason why she wanted to take a calming walk! The memories of them spending
their time together began to flood her mind, and she could feel her whole face begin to flush red as she quickly shook it off, trying her
best to keep her concentration on the pathway. "Um... so... how was your day?", she began, trying to break the awkward silence she
"Hm, no' so excitin'? Saturdays nev'r are too excitin'.. An' wha' of yours, Eliza?" he nearly purred out, subconsciously acting as smooth as
he could, trying to impress or swoon her. "An' might ah say yeh're lookin' beautiful t'day!-- If yeh don' mind th' complimen' from me.."
smiled sheepishly at him, fidgeting with the sling of her bag. "Yeah, Saturdays are always boring for me..." Mainly because she always spend
Saturdays gardening or even lazing around, looking at his pictures in her ph - her whole face immediately turned beetroot red when she heard
his compliment, and stuttered a 'thank you' the best as she could as she tries to avoid his gaze more. W-why was he being so... nice to
her today? Not that he wasn't nice everyday, but he was ... far nicer than normal. And a bit too giddy. "Ah, look! There's my favourite
ice cream parlor, just there," she smiled as she pointed out, trying to avoid the topic - she really didn't want to think of her childish
"Oh! Yeh go there too?" he nodded, definitely delighted to see the ice cream parlour he enjoyed since the day he moved there. "Excellen'!
Shall we go in?" he walked ahead of her and held the door open for her, popping up the collar of his shirt as if to impress her with how he
still practiced chivalry, of course he did this with a joking smirk on his face. "After you, m' lady."
"Y-yes...?" She looked at him with confusion, at first thinking that it was a bad idea to go there often, but was quickly interrupted with
him opening the door for her, her eyebrows raising lightly - and almost in confusion. "Ah, I - thank you, Mr. Mc- I-I mean Quinn!", she
smiled back at him, gripping her sling tighter as they both walked inside. He was only trying to be nice, Eliza, he was only trying to
"Ih's no problem." he smiled and followed her to the counter. The whole time she was choosing a flavour, he couldn't take his eyes off her.-
He stared her features, soaking in all the details. He barely realized that she was asking him a question about the flavours, turning
sanguine as he was caught staring. "Ah, ch-oc'late!" he stammered, fumbling with his pockets in an embarrassed manner, the gravity of his
situation suddenly sinking in.
stared at him when she realized he was watching her, and despite him taking a while to suddenly respond to her question, she shrugged it off
with a smile and nodded, telling the cashier what they both wanted, and soon after they had gotten their order, Eliza handed him his
chocolate ice cream. Eliza happily licked on her ice cream after paying - she insisted on buying him one as well - and the both of them
walked out, the strawberry taste engulfing her mouth. "So good...", she moaned softly, ice cream always being her favourite snack.
tried to regain his composure, he really did, but the moan from her mouth simply flustered him. He just concentrated on his ice cream for a
"Yesh?", she turned to look at him, her lips smeared with strawberry ice cream as she blinked. "... Is something the matter?" Eliza did
realised that her lips were dirty, and unconsciously licked her lips in front of him.
"May I be blunt with yeh?" he gave her a shy little smile. He felt the need to grab this opportunity to actually show her how he really felt
, the school just always brought out the teacher in him, but now that he was just being honest. "If... yeh don' mind, tha' is."
Blunt...? "... Sure...?" She replied, blinking more in confusion. It's quite rare to see him like this, though - he was always the kind to
hide his stories - that notebook of his! She always wondered if it was like reading his heart. "Is there something wrong...?" She muttered,
licking on her ice cream again.
"Wull..." he hummed softly, "You like me, yeah? Wull. I. Possible like yeh jus' as much!" he grinned, trying to make it sound casual but
the flush on his face gave it away. "But ah don' know 'bout you. I've 'ones'ly stopped thinkin' 'bout 'nythin' else but... you?"
... She blinked once. Then twice. It took her a few seconds before his words had hit her like a tonne of bricks, with Eliza's eyes widening
and her whole face really burning bright red right now. "M-M-Mr. McKinley-!", she stuttered loudly in embarrassment, hand accidentally
crushing her ice cream cone into little bits, unable to handle the heat of the... confession. "I-I'm sorry if I really caused trouble! A-and
I d-d-didn't know that it w-would affect you t-that much to end up liking me!"
(( Eliza's face = (//Q//A//Q//) ))
"W-Wha'! Wh-whoa th'... yer... hand...." he stared, astonished. He took her hand and brought out his handkerchief to wipe the ice cream off
her hand. He chuckled softly. "Believe me er no', Ah liked yeh b'fore yeh confessed. Yer confession wus jus'... No' in th' safes' area." he
smiled up at her softly before lifting up her hand and licking off a bit of the ice cream on her hand, teasing a bit. "I like you." he said
with a bit more conviction.
Eliza continued to look at him with her face flushed, however eyes somehow sparkling off these ... delighted aura. "Mr. M- Q-Quinn," she
began, her voice a bit too squeaky from shock. "I - t-thank you for b-being honest with me, i-it's nice to know th-", her words were cut off
when he lifted her hand to lick a bit of the ice cream off, her face burning red. She swore she could feel steam coming out of her ears in
embarrassment now. "I.. I like you, too, then... b-but you already knew that," she giggled lightly, an almost adorable grin on her face.
He smiled up at her, placing the handkerchief in her hands before suddenly pulling her close. "Eliza... Would ih be okay t' try tha' kiss..
squeaked as he pulled her close, her whole face flushing red at the warmth she was receiving. Eliza however looked up at him as she bit her
lower lip, nodding softly before leaning in to press a gentle kiss on his lips, almost the same one as their first time's.
He kissed her back this time, being rather gentle about it, moving as if she were made of porcelain. He smiled into the kiss, pulling back
slightly only to catch his breath.
almost surprised as he kissed back, slowly reaching to grip on his sleeve, before pulling away to catch her breath as well as Eliza quietly
stared at him. She felt the same nice spark again when he kissed her, this time far stronger than previously. "... Sir, you do know this
get us in trouble if one of the students found out..." She giggled softly, her attention never leaving him though.
gave a clever smirk and a nod. "I know. But ih doesn' matter when we're no' in those walls of school, yeah? Out here, M' jus' Quinn th'
new guy in th' apartmen', an yer Eliza, no' m' studen'." He chuckled softly and leaned in to kiss her again, his hand gently touching her
"I know, bu-", her words were quickly cut off by the kiss, a smile lingering in her lips before she slowly reached to wrap her arms around
his neck, pulling him in deeper into the kiss. It didn't even bother them that they were both kissing in the middle of their pathway back to
his place, but she sighed into the kiss, her heart feeling light and fluttery. "... d-does this mean we're...?"
He pulled away and smiled at her with a small nod along with a soft laugh. "Ih's out little secret." he grinned as he pulled away, taking
her hand and intertwining their fingers. "Tha' ended th' ice cream thing short though, since ih's all gone an' dropped..." he gave smiled.
felt herself blush at his statement and nodded shyly, eyes widening a little as he intertwined their fingers together, her hand trembling
lightly from being unused to such affectionate gestures yet. "... So it is, then," she giggled, before it turned into a soft laugh,
shrugging her shoulders. "Sorry, I-I wasn't really expecting that so.. yeah..." She looked at him with an almost hesitant look, looking onto
the pavement as she began to talk. "I'm going to have a date with Francis soon, though..."
(( ASSKDJDKMFUSKDJSKAXDJS OH MY GOD EEEEEE AJDDAJDSJAXDJSKA <3 IT'S SO CUUUUUUTE ))
(( course I do <33 tq sweetheart, you are so talented~ ))
"Eh? A date?" before he could smile complacently, the angry flush had already reached his cheeks and, before he knew it, he was fuming with
jealousy. "Ih's jus' a friendly date then." he said with a sort of finality in his voice. "If I catch 'im doin' 'nything funny.." he mumbled
through slightly clenched teeth followed by a pout.
For a moment, Eliza swore she could feel the shiver of fear up her spine as she watched his face turn red with - anger? Jealousy? She wasn't
so sure - until his words had finally solidified his feelings. A soft giggle escaped her lips as she reached to kiss his cheek, cupping his
cheek with her other hand. "It is a friendly date," she muttered with another soft giggle, her eyes fixed on his. "Don't worry, Quinn... we
agreed to spend the day together in school on Valentine's Day because the both of us had no one." She cleared her throat a little - "I said
had, you know... I wasn't expecting... you t-to..." She stopped midway, her face looking down with her cheeks blushing red.
drew in a long breath of uncertainty before sighing. "Ih's fine." the little shake in his voice was barely audible, but there nonehteless "I
wus too late t' ask yeh! An' ih's a school day-- no place fer us t' romance. So be a kid an' 'ave fun." the complacent smile he had on could
pass off as sincere-- "An' if e' kisses you I might punch 'im in th' face, so please protect 'im." if he had not said it in such a painfully
looked hurt at first, but giggled it off as she kissed him on the lips to stop him from mumbling to himself. "You're so cute, do you know
that?," she grinned at him, leaning close and pulling him down so their foreheads touch. "It doesn't hurt to be jealous once in a while,
my darling Quinn..." She almost purred, raking her fingers on the strands of his hair. "I only love you, and only you."
He looked up and sent her a rather sheepish smile, mumbling a soft "I love you too." back. He pulled back slightly, took her hand, and
they continued to walk on. "Wull ah'll have this momen' t' cherish then? Shall we 'ave a slow walk back 'ome? Er shall I walk you home?"
shrugged her shoulder with a soft giggle, kicking some of the little rocks in front of her playfully before turning to look at him as he
held her hand. "It's up to you," she smiled warmly at him, her eyes glimmering lightly at the sight of his. "Perhaps it would be better if I
have a longer walk with you..."
"Maybe ah will take yeh home." he said in a playful tone. "An' we'll walk nice and slow..."
She looked up at him with a giggle escaping her lips, squeezing his hand a little. "Okay!", she chided happily, rocking their hands back
and forth as they began walking to the direction of their home, her attention fixed on her footsteps.
The walk was relatively quiet, but it was a comfortable silence. He was practically radiating happiness as they walked, though as they
neared her house, he slowly started taking notice of the surroundings. The closer they got to her house, the more his hand slipped from hers
until it was completely in his pocket. "Eliza, ah hafta remember tha' this isn' goin' t' go down easy if we don' keep ih a secret.. I hafta
control m'self, sad t' say." the hearty chuckle definitely hid his apprehension well.
turned to look at him as he slipped his hand away from hers, and retracted her hand as well, a reassuring smile still plastered on her
face. "I know, Mr. McKinley," she spoke, her voice soft and warm, a far contrast with the weather that was beginning to turn dark and
cloudy. "... Would you... like to come in for a while?" She asked him as they stopped in front of the door of her house. "I-I mean, you know
you might need an umbrella..." She looked at him with a shrug.
He gave a solid nod and a smile. "Tha' soun's like a good idea! Ah'll jus' borrow tha' old brolly an' return ih t' yeh on Monday, yeah?" he
cheered, like the usual, and stopped in front of her house. "Wull here ih is right? Ah may no' look so professional, but m' still a teacher
so there should be no suspicions..." he had mumbled the last parts to himself mostly, immersed in his own train of thought.
let out a soft giggle and nodded, walking towards her house a little too quickly and opened the door as she looked for a spare umbrella.-
As soon as she found one, she quickly walked outside - and just her luck, it was starting to rain a little. "Here you go, I found a spa-",
her words were cut off as she slipped on a small puddle and fell onto him with a crash, face bright red and flat on his chest.
Luckily, he had landed properly, breaking her fall in the process. "Oh! Eliza, are yeh all righ'?" he was worried, but, at the same time,
did not dare move from his spot. He had her in a very convenient position and decided to just enjoy the somewhat comical yet arousing
"I-I'm fine..." She muffled, pulling away just to sit up on the... wrong spot of his body. "S-Sorry, Mr.McKinley! Did I hurt you a
*anywhere?" She asked in a worried tone, the rain beginning to soak into her hair and shoulders while her hand gripped tightly onto the
umbrella she was going to lend to him. She looked around his head, making sure there was no sign of any injuries...
He let out a soft "Oof" sound as she sat up and blushed furiously. "M' f-fine!" he said in a panic, flailing about. "E-Eliza get off firs' I
am pretty sure yeh're sittin' on parts yeh're no' supposed t' be sittin' on!" he said in a frantic tone.
"A-ah, sorry M-Mr. McKinley!", she quickly responded in a frantic tone as well as she shifted to stand
up, her face flushed red as she dusted off her already wet coat. "S-s-sorry, sir! Here you go, your umbrella!", she
squeaked, returning to her usual self around being his student and quickly handed him over the umbrella.
A nervous chuckle escaped from his lips, but he smiled warmly as he gingerly took the umbrella from her hands. "Thank you, Eliza. This s' t'
be returned t' yeh on Monday, I promise tha'." he grinned.
giggled softly with a nod, a small smile on her face as she looked at him with a sheepish wave of her hand. "I'll see you on Monday, then,
Mr. McKinley..." Her voice appeared distant and longing, however she shook it off, a small blush dusted on her cheeks. How will she be able
to face him again after this day, she will never know, but it was certainly one of the best days in her life...
