It's a nice viewer. I still get lines in my shadow pics, though, if I have the picture bigger than window size.
Exodus is generally based on newer sources from Linden lab and contains a lot of unique player versers player functionality...
Also has many tools for machinimists to play with. Many people report they get higher FPS on Exodus. Not always the case though.
wait.. pictures bigger than my window size.... is THAT why I keep getting those lines?!?!
It's why I get them. I don't know about anyone else. Any viewer I use, it happens.
But my graphics card is on the older side these days.
We have found and fixed the issue with the lines and fixed it. The disadvantage is that high resolution pictures will require more memory.
Expect to see the fix in our next update. Which should be coming out soon.
I notice the viewer stalls when taking a picture tho. I get the spinny wheel.
I'd say it lasts about 10 seconds maybe
I'm not noticing this issue on Windows or Linux. I can't test on OS X, don't have a Mac.
What resolution are you taking these pictures at?
I just have the defaults and high-res snapshot checked.
can someone on the team test it who has a Mac?
I'm pretty sure you're using an old version of Exodus from that description.
Exodus Viewer beta also on top
it's showing as the newest in the mac downloads
The high res snapshot checkbox was in 11.10.31.1, pre-FUI. How are you finding it in the current UI?
That's probably what is causing your freeze ups. Setting a custom resolution on the snapshot shouldn't have as much as an adverse effect.
it's when I hit the snapshot button. Unchecking high-res didn't help
I got a Mac user to test it out, he can't reproduce it. Potentially, the issue could be that the viewer cannot allocate enough memory.
So, it has to flush out a bunch of things in memory to make room. Another possibility is that your CPU is really weak.
Weak CPU with SL's multi-snapshot-stitch together system might cause horrible latencies.
it's a 2.66ghz dual core intel. I run photoshop, SL, web browser, iTunes and nicecast and can still take pics just fine on any other viewer
At this point, I don't know what your issue is. But, with the numerous changes done to the snapshot code for the next release...
I think it's best left to the next release and see how that handles. A few things that were basic to how snapshots are taken were reworked.
I figure yeah just wait for the next release and for now use a different one to do my pics.
