What are you thinking of buying?
And the 5lb CO2 tank listed below. For making some Soda actually, not necessarily beer.
That's not all that much. Will you use it?
At least two or three times. Sure. And being able to make 5gal of Soda at a shot. It makes it way EASIER. I don't have to ferment.
I can just focus on the syrup, do my own blueberry and vanilla reduction and my own soda batches. Etc.
I am kinda stoked by this in a way as I found out something awesome about the new manager at work.
He had a mid-life crisis. Ran a bakery/cafe with 12 employees and stuff. And he has experience running food related businesses.
Sounds cool to me. I'm not likely to talk you out of it.
So not only is he a kickass amazing IT engineering manager. But he's got experience directly relevant to something I want to pursue.
Plus... soda doesn't involve crazy as fuck WA alcohol law. As much as I dearly want to distill.
The manager sounds pretty cool too.
go for it, dude! i'm not gonna talk you out of it if you can afford it without hurting your bills, or live on ramen for the next month
i'm all about food gadgets, lol. no HFCS, too
If you'll use it, and it gets the creative side of your brain going, AND it won't be a financial hardship...dude, go for it.
Are you asking to be talked out of it because you don't know if you can afford it or because you don't know if you actually want to do it?
I can afford it several times over. I have that problem with ADHD. Cooking in general is one of the few things I've kept with.
I've done some sausage making. I've done some condiments. I want to do more Soda. I want to make some cheese but the lag-time between...
feedback on batches is a killer. At least 60 days, upwards of 6-9 months to age batches of artisan cheese? That's a killer.
I've been wanting to make more batches of soda.
And I have to say I am super excited about my new IT manager having run a food related business and how he can give me advice on it!
I strongly suspect this may finally aid me in getting off my ass and being able to get things rolling.
There are three areas I am considering pursuing. Charcuterie/Sausage, Condiments, Soda. Possibly my dill pickles.
I have also considered buying a meatgrinder and sausage stuffing gadget as well. So I can make more sausage.
Seriously, who doesn't love a sausage fest?!
i'll eat your sausage, wink wink, nudge nudge, say no m ore, say no more
I wish more girls would say that more. But that's a topic for a private plurk.
Buy it, sweets. I know you wanted us to talk you out of it, but if you can afford it, you should do it.
all for stuff that grows your brain, your repertoire, and your creativity.
