No, these are all optional appeals. No minimum amount specified. The only money sent in is that given by parishioners for CCHD.

Now, when we do the special appeals, we don't do a second collection.

We just have envelopes for that appeal, and whatever is in the envelopes goes to the diocese.

The diocese then compiles the donations from all the parishes and sends it off to wherever the appeal goes.

As a reminder, our archdiocese policy requires that the entire weekend collection be designated for CCHD. (archbishop's letter)

That's badly phrased, but I don't think it's saying what you think it says.

I don't think it says that every collection from every parish that weekend has to go to CCHD.

I think it's saying that every penny that is given in the CCHD collection (separate from the usual parish collection) goes to CCHD.

I can't take that "second collection" money and give it to CRS, for example.

At least that's what it looks to me with the letter being an appeal for this special collection.

The concern is those priests who have refused to give money to CCHD due to the scandals surrounding CCHD.
