give you a week's prescription and kick you off to HOPEFULLY soon psych to pick it up b/f you run out

then theres psychiatric hospitals that JUST do psych so they get a little leeway

people claim its the same but it is SO NOT.

they set a stay and then 3/4 the way through theyll evaluate if you need more time

the public ones you might be there seven days but they wont really do much on weekends

so if you get there like a saturday youre stuck till monday and then you gotta start your days from there

public funding cant support regular docs on weekends

that oness weird though because they do 24/7 intake and most dont even do that

its 9 am to 8pm

and that place wont move you around coz they think that sucks

'residential' or 'community' is the long term stuff

'outpatient' can be long term but you go home unless they think you cant without getting in trouble then

youre marked 'crisis mode' and either sent to inpatient or hosted there depending on whether it's a crisis rescue place

but you start w/out it for various reasons

i got more visit time/phone calls/etc than hes got b/c

A) did what i needed to do to earn it and B] "residential locked security unit" so they think longterm and thats no good to cut people off

they dont care as much if youre regular acute

theyre more concerned with doin stuff as best and fast as possible to get you to 'real world' after
