holed up in his office, he'd forgotten that Greece was supposed to be coming over. Maybe he was getting old.
got to Sadiq's door holding a basket of foodstuffs. He knocked on it lightly. Something in the back of his mind nagged him as to whether
looked up and frowned a bit, he wasn't fond of being disturbed while he was working. He pushed the papers aside and went to answer the door.
stepped back as the other opened the door. He blinked. Sadiq didn't look happy. "I took too long."
paused when he saw Greece, took to long? It took him a moment to put it together and he quickly stepped out of the way shaking his head
lightly. "Yeah." He ushered him into the house with that, he wasn't going to admit he'd forgotten... the frown slowly turned into a smirk
suspected that Sadiq had forgotten from the look on his face, but he wasn't going to bring it up. He stepped inside. The place looked
unfamiliar to him. It had been forever since they had stepped in each other's homes. Silently, he made his way towards the kitchen.
followed after him, mostly on the pretense that he didn't want him touching any of the artifacts and antiques that he had on the shelves
eyes did wander along the other's shelves, but he kept walking. He placed the basket down on the counter and began to place things
beside it. Vegetables, olives, meat.. He turned to Sadiq. "If I remember correctly, you have more than enough spices."
watched him quietly from the doorway and nodded. He was curious now. "Yes... top cupboard."
noticed that he was being watched and wondered if Sadiq was worried about him wrecking the kitchen. He opened the cupboard
and began picking out bottles. It was unbelievable how much stuff there was to choose from. He took his time, as he tended to.
decided to let him be, he quietly slipped away and went back to working in his study.
Smiled to himself as he began cutting up vegetables. Being cordial to Sadiq felt strange, but he was curious as to whether
getting along would actually work.
didn't think it would actually last very long. He just didn't hold much hope for them getting along passed dinner.
working slowly on getting things ready, each step almost calculating. He was making a bit of a mess in the process, but that
would be cleaned up later...
hoped he cleaned it up, he wouldn't be very happy if he didn't. He kept himself pretty focused on his work though and slowly forgot the
humming lowly to himself as he worked, lost in his own little world. Food now simmering on the pot and meat broiled, he worked on the
salad. After a while, he forgot he was in Sadiq's house. (( they're terrible at this memory thing ))
finished off another stack of papers before moving onto the next, he was completely lost in his work now. ((Apparently xD ))
crumbled a bit of feta on the salad and started setting things down on the table. His thoughts were everywhere else but here, and so it
wasn't until he was going to sit down that he remembered. He went off in search of the Turk.
studiously reading over a document when he heard someone walking around and he paused. Ah... Greece was here... it had been so long since
he'd had someone else over at his house.
looking for him in all the sensible spots -- underneath the couch, behind doors..
frowned a bit before he got up, and went to find him. "Greece... what are you doing?"
hard at work trying to find him when he was roused by the other's voice. He turned around, blinking. "Oh. There you are. I'm finished."
frowned a bit but nodded. "Okay... you shouldn't wander around other people's houses."
blinked, frowning. "I wasn't wandering. I was looking for you."
nods a bit as he headed for the dinning area. "Thank you Greece." This whole situation seemed so strange to him.
Hearing those words from him sounded foreign. He followed after him, pulling back two chairs. "Do you feel like we are treading on
thin ice?" He asked. He had always been one to speak his mind, after all.
stopped and looked over at him for a moment before he took a seat. "Hmm... It wont last and we both know it."
looked thoughtful as he took a seat. "I have little reason to dislike you now. You did what I've wanted from you for as long as I can
remember." He served himself some salad to start out with. "It's just difficult to adopt new habits." He paused. "And well, everyone knows
stared at him for a long moment. "A bit brash? My methods have always worked and served as a means to an end."
stared right back at him and said nothing. He was good at saying nothing. He was also good at staring.
frowned darkly at the staring. He looked away pointedly and took in the food, well it looked decent...
's gaze became less intense, but it stayed on Sadiq. Despite himself, he was looking for a reaction, good or bad.
took a bit of the salad first, taking a small bite of it. "It's good Greece..."
beamed just a little bit before he began eating. "I wonder if you'll get to the dish I poisoned." A joke?
frowned at that as he looked up at him. "You realize poison would be useless right?" He didn't know why he was tolerating the kid right now,
maybe because he wasn't being his usual irritating self.
just smiled back. Okay, so -maybe- he got a little bit of a kick from pushing Sadiq's buttons. But it was harmless, or so he thought.
"It was a joke. Albeit, a pretty bad one..." He looked down at his plate, looking pensive as he ate.
slowly ate the food in silence, not having much to say in response to that. He looked up at him for a moment before he went back to eating.
"The meat," he said softly, pausing to put his fork down. "Mama used to make something very similar whenever it was a special day.
She didn't eat much of it because it was harder to come by." He was daydreaming now, smiling.
looked up at him and paused, he frowned a bit as he listened to him before he nodded a bit. "Greece... it doesn't help to keep thinking
about the past you know." He did remember the woman though, how could anyone forget her.
brought out his daydream, blinking. "Thinking about her doesn't make me sad, Sadiq" he said. "I like to think of my past. Even of the times
frowns at that comment he looked away from him and put his fork down. "I see."
continued eating in silence, the smile faint on his face. He was still daydreaming.
sat quietly, not really interested in the food anymore. He shifted back a bit and sipped at his drink instead.
finished and stood back up quietly, eyeing Sadiq. "I apologize for the trouble. I should clean your kitchen now."
frowned a bit at that, he watched him quietly, considering something before he reached over and grabbed his wrist. "Sit...please." He might
as well put effort towards being cordial with him. "What did you really think of me when you were a kid?"
resisted the instinctual urge to yank his wrist away from the other's touch. He instead did as he was asked, sitting back down and looking
at Sadiq curiously. It was an interesting question, and to Greece, it had many answers. He tried as best he could to condense his thoughts.
"I resented you because you ordered me around though you had no relation to me." He paused. This next part was difficult to admit.
"But I also admired you." He looked away, frowning. "I wanted to be your favorite."
watched and listened quietly nodding a bit at that, ah.... he couldn't tell him the his favourite had been Egypt for the longest time. "I
see." He leaned back a bit before he got up. "I've got some dessert for you."
blinked at that. Dessert? He was curious, but he also hoped Sadiq didn't become angry at how messy his kitchen was. He'd clean it up!
would probably get a little annoyed at it, but would expect him to clean it up. He headed into the kitchen, getting a dish out of the fridge
he brought it out, trying to ignore the mess.
remained seated, not sure what to expect. He was finding that being nice and not losing his temper got easier with time.
set the dish down in front of the other and took the lid off, he'd made baklava earlier in the day.
's eyes widened as the lid was taken off. He didn't know Sadiq liked to cook, since the Grecian had grown up surrounded by servants. "I can
take a piece?" He asked, unsure.
nodded a bit. "Yes, I wouldn't have made it if I didn't want you to have a piece."
