My Master's is in Reading /LA. I disagree with most of this article. The book venders and a lot of people outside education think

they have all the answers. I can see where their approach will turn off many wonderful teachers and their students. Yes, I believe in

giving kids lots of prior knowledge. Before people tell you how to teach they need to experience the classroom and get to know students.

I'm not sure the article was positive at all in regards to publishing curriculum based on CCELA. I think the language was intentionally

vague, but there was a subtle bias against those trying to mandate pedagogy that do not "know" education. I have been surprised by the

support some have shown for the CCELA--the more we find out, the more wary we should be.
