his pants, sitting down. "No, no." He grumbled, standing back up and pacing yet again. Gil began fighting with himself. Half of him wanted
this to be perfect, absolutely perfect for his Birdie. The other half told him to man up and just *do* it already. He gathered his wits
quickly as he began to dial Mattie's number.
Just a seemingly regular day for himself, Matthew was on his laptop in his .
apartment. The tv turned on- though ignored- he was never used to the uncomfortable silence when he was alone. He sat
on the couch, crosslegged, his cellphone laying on the coffee table. The loud buzzing sound made by the hard
surface and the vibrating phone startled him slightly, as he stopped typing. He glanced
up and reached over- flipping it open. "...H-Hello..?" he answered, quietly.
felt himself freeze as soon as he heard the other's voice. "H-Hey Mattie! You, uh, doing anythin' tonight?" He asked nervously, hands
clutching the poor phone desperately.
"..Gil..?" he propped the phone between his shoulder and head as he replaced his hands on the keyboard. "..Um.. not really, why do you ask?"
'Ok Gil, you can do this,' he chanted in his mind. "I'm takin' you to dinner tonight, dress awesomely," he laughed a tad forcefully.
".. 'Awesomely' can be misinterpreted, you know.." he smiled slightly as he scrolled down the webpage. "..but okay, um..where..?"
((canada is obviously using tumblr.))

"I'll come pick you up, say, around 8?" He leaned against the kitchen arch, fumbling with the edge of his shirt.
glanced at the clock, "..Kay, I'll see you then." He hung up as he got up to put his laptop on the coffee table next to his phone.
sighed heavily as he heard the dial tone. Closing his phone, he did a little happy dance, ecstatic he got everything over and done with.
Collapsing onto the couch, he glanced over his side table and smiled, today was going to be an *awesome* day.
walked lazily towards his closet, noise was still emitting from the tv outside his room. Slipping on a pair of jeans and a cardigan over his
white shirt- he decided 'dressing awesomely' was just another a way of saying 'don't wear pajama bottoms' or something along those lines.
felt his nerves jump as he realized that he was one step closer to becoming a nervous wreck. "Get a fuckin' hold of yourself, Gil," he said
aloud, rubbing his face. "Just another hour and a half and you're good."
Eventually after returning to his spot with his wi-fi, 8 o'clock came and Matthew got up to leave. He put his wallet and phone in his pocket
and wrapped a scarf around his neck loosely as he went down to the lobby, locking the door behind him.
swallowed the lump in his throat, checking and rechecking his pocket to reassure himself. He fumbled nervously with the hem of his vest,
rolling his dress shirt sleeves up. He decided formal shoes would be too...eh. He began to fidget as he walked into the apartment building
He pushed the heavy glass door open to wait outside for Gilbert, he wondered if he was underdressed.. -brushing it off quickly,
he looked presentable, and that was what mattered. They were only having dinner anyway, he thought. And Gil's seen him at his worst before.
looked up as he walked out- speak of the devil, Matthew spotted that German walking towards him. He smiled and waved slightly.
Instead of having his worries melt away, they increased tenfold. "Hey Mattie!" He waved back. As soon as he was close enough, he drew the
other closer and gave him a quick chaste kiss before leading them back out.
blushed slightly as he was pulled into an embrace, his dress shirt collar brushed against his neck slightly. He followed close to him as
they headed out, glancing over at him slightly.
'Everything's gonna turn out great.' That was the mantra he kept replaying in his head as they headed to his car. "Do anything awesome
today?" He questioned as he opened the door for the other.
smiled, "..I slept in and went on my computer.." he got into the car. "..so not really.."
snorted, masking his anxiousness as to not make the other suspicious. He got in as well and began driving onto the highway. "Did your
he shook his head, "Haven't seen him in a while." Matthew glanced out the window, watching the cars pass. "..how about you..?
'Oh, I just spent all day nearly shitting my pants in worry, no big though,' he answered mentally. "Played video games since West left to go
out with Feli," he shrugged.
smiled as he glanced over, "Which one?" he asked, interested.
"Portal 2, almost finished it," he slowly turned into the restaurant parking lot, slowing to a halt. "I'm starved," he grinned, hoping that
his frazzled nerves hadn't been exposed yet.
((Gilbert playing one of the most godly games ever asfdhvehd <3 ))
let himself out of the car, huffing slightly- "why is no one finished yet..?" he smiled bit childishly, "I have no one to talk to about it"
(( don't make lemonade ;u; ))
"I'm almost done! Jeez," he chuckled, opening the restaurant door for the Canadian. He tried to keep himself in check, this was
"thanks," he mumbled as he stepped into the restaurant. He waited for the other to enter as a waitress smiled and greeted them.
followed in afterward, nodding at the waitress. "Table for Beilschmidt," he told the girl. He looked back and grabbed Mattie's hand, lacing
their fingers together as the waitress led them to the most secluded table in the restaurant.
blushed slightly as he grabbed his hand suddenly, he always felt a little uncomfortable with public displays of affection.
let go of the other's hand as soon as they made it to the table and pulled the chair out for Mattie, waiting for the blond to seat himself.
"...T-Thanks" he mumbled as he sat down on the chair. He watched the other sit down across from him.
discreetly thrummed his fingers on his leg as they both flipped through the menu. He didn't really have an appetite since it felt like worms
were squirming around in his stomach.
He closed the the menu once he decided- he was never a picky eater. Matthew glanced briefly at the other who was still deciding.
checked his pocket every other minute, to reassure himself. He glanced up to see that the Canadian was watching him. Closing his menu, he
waved a waiter over and they both ordered. As soon as the employee left, a silence lapsed over the two.
He looked up, "..why the sudden date..?" he asked, quietly- trying to make small talk.
gazed jump back up to the other, silently gulping. "Cause I wanted to," he grinned, brushing aside a stray piece of hair from out of
blushed slightly as he did so, "O-oh.." he muttered, pulling away slightly.
retracted his hand, a panicked feeling filling him. What....What if Mattie said no? He mentally shook his head, willing himself to stay
optimistic. The waiter brought over their food and they began eating quietly.
he forked his pasta idly before bringing it to his mouth- he thought about asking why he brought him out instead of staying in like
they usually did- but simply continued eating.
picked at his food- which was very uncharacteristic of him. He couldn't bring himself to finding a topic of conversation since his stomach
He glanced across the table, "..Um, something wrong..?"
((in the end do you want him to say yes or no...?))
[How's about no at first because he was caught off guard?]
"Eh?" He jolted to attention. "Oh, nothing really," he laughed, forcing himself to begin eating his steak. "So, I heard there was a hockey
game on the other day. How was it?"
smiled and laughed quietly "Well, it's the playoffs so there's a game almost every other day, - we lost the most recent game with Nashville"
himself get lost in that smile, not resisting the tug at his lips. "Really? That's a shame," he would listen to Mattie prattle on all day if
he could. The sound of the Canadian's voice soothed him.
"There's another one tomorrow, hopefully we do better.." he said, taking another bite of his food.
"Who do you think has a good shot at winning the playoffs?" He pushed away his half-eaten plate and smoothed his hands on his pants.
"Definitely not the Canucks," he smiled, "we never win anyway, as much as we'd like to." He put his fork down and push his plate away too-
only having eaten a small half of his dinner.
glances down at his lap nervously. This was *not* the time to be getting second thoughts. "So, we've, uh, been together for quite a while
now..." He started anxiously.
He took a sip of his water, "um, sort of.. yes, I-I suppose we have" he said, lacing the glass back down onto the table.
"And you, um...you know that I, uh, that Iloveyou," he rushed, feeling himself flush faintly.
blinked, looking at him quizzically. He didn't say anything and waited simply- not quite understanding his point.
coughed into his shoulder. He removed the item from his pocket and slowly got up. Glancing at the Canadian's face one last time, he
"W-What are y-" he blushed wildly as he saw him kneel down- a few people in the restaurant started looking, he got up abruptly-"G-Gil..?
felt himself slowly turning red as well, "I...I love you and, uh," he stuttered, looking back up at Mattie. "Will....Will you marry me?"
"W-what..? -I mean..-"His face flushed as he felt people's eyes on him- "G-Get up..people are staring.." he whispered, trying to pull him up.
gets to his feet, standing in front of the blond. "Will you?" The longer he waited for the answer, the deeper his hopes sank.
's face reddened, trailing slightly. "..M-marriage is a-a bit.." he took a step back slightly, visibly confused. "I-..I've never..-"
bit his tongue, steeling his facial expressions as he tasted blood. Just breath, Gil. Everything's gonna be- Fuck it. Nothing's going to be
okay. He awkwardly chuckled, closing the box and putting it back in his pocket. "That's okay," he reached forward to caress the blond's
cheek but hesitated, pulling back at the last moment. "Yeah, it's big and I'm not gonna push you."
"I-I'm sorry.." he blurted, his face still bright red. He'd never thought for his life that the Prussian would propose to him- how could he
have? He was a guy- it wasn't the first thing you thought about in a relationship. Matthew bit his lip slightly as he glanced back at the
other, who was looking away as well- a distinct expression on his face. He felt a slight weight in his chest as a silence wafted over them.
"Y-you know- I- Ilove..you.." he said quietly, "I-it's just.. um.."
"No, no, it's fine," he waved it off, seeing the other get extremely uncomfortable. "I should've known," he shrugged, feigning nonchalance.
Yes, he was miserable but, the last thing he wanted was for the other to say yes out of pity.
It wasn't fine, even Matthew knew as much- people don't just shrug things offs when you say no to marrying them.Though it might have been
easier to think as much. To pretend it, maybe. He gripped the sides of his legs and glanced back. Well why not.. he thought. He loved him.
trailed downwards slightly, "N-no.. -"he stammered, blushing. "Y..You're not- we should." he tried putting a smile on for him. It seemed
like a good enough reason. "...Gil.."
too wrapped up in his own thoughts to comprehend what the other had said. He only jerked to attention at the sound of his name. "Yes?"
"....I-I will." he said, timidly.
"Will what?" He pressed on. He had to be absolutely sure he knew what Mattie was talking about, to save himself any unneeded heartache.
blushed slightly as he other insisted, "m-marry...you.." he choked quietly on his words, face flushing wildly.
felt his lips tug upward, fighting back the urge to just shout in elation. He stood back up, removed the box and took out he ring, offering
the simple silver band to the blushing male.
smiled nervously as he did so. It felt strange, but in a good way- he thought as he looked down at the band on his finger.
could barely hold in his excitement. He slid a hand into the blond's silky locks, stroking his head affectionately. He knew Mattie was shy
about public displays of affection but seriously, how could Birdie deny him *something* after agreeing to be by his side indefinitely?
blushed, and lowered hand- trailing slightly as the other touched him, still pale pink in the cheeks.
wanted to sweep smaller into his arms and just drown him in kisses. His fingers twitched as he placed them back in his pockets, afraid he
looked around, a bit embarrassed as a waitress smiled at them. He flushed more and backed away slightly, "..we should get the.. bill.."
Oh, right, the bill. Gil sat back down and waved for the nearest waiter. Paying for the meal, he tucked his wallet back into his pocket and
they both steadily made their way to the door.
He followed him out of the restaurant quietly, sighing slightly as they stepped outside- watching his breath melt into he chilled night air.
chanted in his mind that he could hold off until they got into the car. Gil stepped ahead and opened the car door for the Canadian.
"Thanks.." he muttered quietly as he entered the car. He hugged himself lightly, as he waited for the other to get in.
hurried over to the other side and getting in. Unable to contain himself any longer, he leaned over the car console and brought Mattie
closer, their faces only an inch apart.
flushing almost immediately as he was pulled closer to him. He blinked, "..?"
smiling gently, he slid his eyes closed and leaned in closer to kiss the other.
blushing as their lips touched- he closed his eyes and kissed back softly.
's hand came up to softly cup and caress Mattie's cheek as he angled his head, meshing their lips together perfectly.
sighed into kiss, melting against the other's lips.
made noise of pleasure, pressing his tongue against the other's lips, slowly prying into the Canadian's mouth.
parted his lips willingly, letting the other's tongue in- he moaned quietly, gripping the edge of his seat.
shifted, making himself comfortable as he slid his tongue over the blond's and tangling them playfully.
Leaning back slightly as the other deepened the kiss, he moved his arms to
(sorry, misfire) his head, running his fingers through his short hair.
's hands trailed down the other's torso, resting them on Mattie's hips. His thumbs rubbed circles on the skin that was slightly exposed.
He blushed when he felt the other's hand on his bare skin. Opening his eyes slightly- like slits on his faintly flushed face.
gave Mattie's tongue one last flick before pulling away and settling in his seat. He reached over to the blond's hand, looking at him
[;A; so sorry I forgot /shortattentionspan]
caught himself following briefly as the other pulled away from him- he blushed as he opened his eyes,.and met with the others- gazing at him
grinned as his gaze shifted, seeing the platinum band shine on the blond's ring finger. "Anywhere you wanna go?"
He shook his head lightly- smiling, "..Up to you." he said, quietly.
"Would you like to go home or go out somewhere?" Honestly, he'd canoe to Alaska if the Canadian wanted him to; still floating on Cloud 9.
"..Home then." he smiled, leaning back softly on the seat.
"Home it is," he gave Mattie's hand one last squeeze before buckling up and starting the engine.
