I think it can depreciate the value of other items in the store because everyone comes lookin for the 'sale.' But my items aren't
as highly priced as many other big stores, so it doesn't hurt me like it would them.
i think most new releases have been limited to events, and everyone is too exhausted to make stuff inbetween
there's this one store i really like, but their 50L item is never the right color (PINK)
so i hold out for the regular release, with more color/options
well i'm in this thingy for 4 years now, and i have noticed a definate plunge of my regular sales due to 1. myself being in too much events,
2. customers buying more off sales/hunts/events then my regular releases
so its sort of a problem liek that, yes definately
What Nylon said is almost on point with how I'm feeling about it.
I find even myself spending more time organizing the 50L event and making a product to be sure that it will do well at that sale
than I'm able to put in on a regular release and I find my own store releases happening less and less frequently
while I see sales of my regular items, like SySy said.. plunging while customers are buying more sale items.
Like you, Candii, my items aren't even priced very high regularly but I'm finding lately that I can't even make sales of full outfits with
shoes and jewelry for 350L. I've priced it all at 250L now and it is selling but I can't help shake the thought that maybe
all these sales events aren't really as helpful to designers as they possible should be.
I wonder if it's a frequency issue or quantity issue, but quite possibly it's both.
The downside is that if we just go ahead and not do them customers will go to other stores because of the advertisement factor they have
on top of the great prices for the customers..... what have we done to our market.. oi vey
What a freakin dilemma
Might also be the RL economy... People are less willing to spend on full price SL stuff and become bargin hunters.
I'm not sure that it really has that much to do with RL economy because I still see people paying 4-8k on skin packs and 1-3k for shoe packs
yah I've def seen this with us. that's why I don't do many events or weekly things. it's hard enough for me to release more than one
outfit that is up to my standards
I am worrying more about FLF than anything and having a time frame like that really puts me off.
then I don't release at all and it's a major cut down
Yeahhh, it's getting to me doing it weekly... I feel like I haven't done a real release in probably 4 months.
Well for me, sales events like 50L friday, hunts, pose fair and the like are about exposure and introducing people to Larnia Kids. Hunts...
n't have much effect either way so i tend not to get into as many, but 50L friday helped us gain mainstream exposure, and has done...
othing but help us in the long run. Larnia Kids is approaching 3 years. The thing is, its also about how you market yourself, your
Prices, I find, have little to do with anything as some of the top stores have high prices and still sell alot
HeathPevensey: I'm always impressed at how you and Rory push out so many new releases so quickly. It's pretty mindboggling.
ty! Its all about enjoying yourself and having fun. We are blessed, and we know it
When I had a good staff I was able to put out a lot of items I think lately I'm just so worn down with feeling under appreciated
for the things I do for the community like 50L Friday and other behind the scenes things.
I don't do them for appreciation but you'd all be surprised at some of the IM's mommy and I have gotten over some issues with FLF.
It tends to take a drain on a person after awhile.
I was looking back at old designs of mine lately and it got me thinking about the past few years. I used to really love SL and creating
products for BC and now the only thing I really love doing is building
I do like to make clothing and such but so much has happened it's really been a struggle for me lately to create new things among all the
negativity on top of keeping 50L kids organized and not spending all day on SL now that I have an RL son..
50L friday really giving people who wouldn't normally get exposure out there? like really?
i'm sure they'd go to our stores either way if we had a sale release or a regular release
if your stuff is good, people will come anyway
I agree with you on that Nylon, I think in kid world it was made easy for many when I started 50L Friday...
I often get IMs from kids wanted in just because they need a way to get their name out. I laugh it off because when I started my store
there was no 50L Friday or any "easier" way to do it.
i dunt think tha sales of regular items are effected. maybe if someone did every sales event going it would.
look back on the kids choice awards.. how many of those who won were 50l vendors.. heck i dont think anyone even would shop gb without it..
i cant say for sure because right now i have chosen to not do any sales events. but the outside perspective ive heard most people are
getting more sales off the sale items and less on regular priced ones
and i would be afraid to be in a situation myself where that was happening because i might feel "stuck" in a sale event cuz im afraid of
esp if i name was out there BECAUSE of a sale event
personally i think there are too many sale events, esp in the adult world, soo many that are too alike theres one for each day of the week
i almot feel like specific sale events, esp ones i was involved with on my adult ava lost its luster after too many were created
and people just didnt shop at them, because, for example some had so many stores in them, they were unorganized, lack of quality. ect
