home and answers the door. "Hello?"

"Hei," gives her a small smile.

smiles back. "Hey Norway, what brings you here?"

"Haven't seen you in a while. Came to see how you're doing, and issue an invitation to dinner."

tilts her head. "Dinner where?"

looks at her. "May I come in?"

opens the door wider. "Yea sure if you want to."

steps inside. "So, how have you been?"

shrugs. "Fine, I injured my hand but it's almost better now. You?"

"You did?" looks at her hand. "I've been out of the house for a few days. Busy."

pulls it back quickly, it still hurts. "Yea, I was working on a canoe and my hand slipped, it nearly went right through at one point."

"Why didn't you call me?"

waves it off. "It wasn't a big deal, I went to the hospital right away and got stitches. My neighbour drove me."

nods, "Why didn't you call your neighbor when you fell on that broken glass?"

shrugs. "No one was home. It happened at night so he was there this time."

"Ah, okay." scratches the back of his head. "We're getting together for dinner, and you're invited."

crosses her arms. "Like I asked before, where?"

"Uhm ... Denmark's house? I'm cooking."

freezes. "No. I'm not going."

" ... making reindeer. Iceland would like you to be there too."

opens her front door, face red from anger. "Get out."

"What ... why?" frowns at her.

shaking from how mad she is. "I don't want to see him or be near him. You know my feelings on this. Out."

"Nei. We're trying to get everyone together for a family dinner. No need to get emotional and rude about it."

glares. "You've all been a family for decades without me. And now you want me in? No thanks."

"That's not true at all and you know it."

tilts her head. "Do I? Hundreds of years until any of you came back, centuries. And then sporadic visits over more centuries."

"So that automatically means if someone makes an effort to change that, you should immediately turn them down?"

nods. "Exactly. The effort is far too late for me to ever consider being part of this family."

crosses his arms, feels sad. "Does that include me?"

shrugs. "You left me too. I'm not going to your family dinner so please, just leave."

like a knife was just shoved into his chest. His staying away wasn't exactly by choice. "If that's how you feel. Goodbye then."

hurt too. "If it was just you and Iceland I would go, but not him, never with him."

"I will leave you alone. Sorry to have ever bothered you." Walks out the door.

goes after him. "Wait! I'm sorry, it came out wrong, I didn't want to hurt your feelings.."

"You did. I didn't have much choice with how things worked out." looks at her. "I'll let you get in touch with me after this, if you_

need anything."

tears up. "I'm sorry, I want to go to dinner with you but I can't.."

"Why not?"

bites her lip. "I can't be in the same room as him, I'd just leave as soon as I got there. I'm really sorry.."

"Fine. I gave you the invitation, that's all I can do." gives her one more sad look, then turns to leave again.

goes back to the house. She knows she's made him upset but she's not going.
