Plurk's traffic seems to still be growing, and is big among users from....Indonesia?!? www.alexa.com/data/detai...

I did a compete.com comparison a couple of weeks ago expecting it to have decreased, but it was actually on the rise. Still nowhere close to

Twitter though.

they need an evangelist. (Or needed, maybe it's too late?)

Isn't fair to compare it to Twitter, Twitter has over a year's solid growth on Plurk.

I know, but both are a micro blog of sorts and you have to put two sites in to get any numbers out...

I think it's interesting that Plurk is hanging with Friendfeed, which has about 6 months of hype headstart on Plurk

I wonder how they will make money?

I wonder how any of them will make money ;-)

the money thing interests me too. I keep fearing that we will wake up one day and Plurk will be gone. That happened to Pownce, didn't it?

Funny Deb, I was just thinking about how we haven't had any new 'shiny new objects' lately, guess VCs are tighter with money now?

yeah. Actually, there is a pretty active start-up and VC community in Boulder right now. I have been going to a lot of their stuff.

there is a New Tech meetup the beginning of every month and there is an incubator "Tech Stars" that has been doing interesting things.

some recent successes include: BrightKite, FiltrBox and SocialThing! (their exclamation point, not mine)

at the New Tech meetup, each start-up gets 10 minutes to present and then 5-10 minutes for Q&A. The audience is mostly full of developers.

I enjoy going because I have the marketing/PR thing going and can lend that expertise. It is really fascinating how a team can have a great

product, but no real knowledge of their market. Makes you wonder how the VCs find them interesting. Also, SocialThing! was acquired by AOL

now what is AOL going to do with something that is basically a type of FriendFeed?

I think we are seeing an evolution and we'll eventually see some form of co-existence between the two sites I think.

I've refound a bit of love for Twitter these days, but I still value Plurk more because of the way they respond to the community.

Both are good and relevant. I'm happy splitting my time between the two. Hell, I'm even using Facebook again.
