Though putting the usual likely ingredients in a crockpot and letting it go is usually pretty failure-proof

Update: it worked pretty well. Salt,pepper, sage on the pork. Added sectioned apples and rinsed sauerkraut. Yum, actually.

Oh braised pork and sauerkraut is incredibly yum. Apples are a great addition. Try it with caraway seeds next time--goes great!

I was going to suggest the same thing. It's a standard recipe here. I add onions & a bottle of lager as well.
