help. I am making a monster hat for oldest girl. I got the hat part done, but it came out too wide. (Stupid lying gauge) How can I fix it?

Do you think you could pull in the brim when you add the teeth?

you could hand felt it to size, or sew a pinch pleat on the inside to tighten it up.

I would sew elastic to the inside of the hat. If it's really crazily gigantic you might have to just start over though.

Run some elastic yarn in the back of the rib to pull it in?
Alynxia

if the ribbing is too loose, you could run some elastic thread through it to tighten it up.

HTH. Me? I'd probably just reknit it.

I was thinking what lynx was. Sew a pinch pleat. But elastic could work well, too

I have a hat that I just ran a long piece of yarn in and out and tied a bow in the inside to size. Not at all elegant but easy

not noticeable and it worked

I may try the pinch pleat. DD will probably hurt me if I tell her she has to wait longer. heh. Now. To find out how to do it... thanks all!
