I've also seen the TV chefs drag the edge of a spoon across the cut surface of a pom and gently scrape the seeds out

[checks the method] You don't need any water to do that, silly people. My mother used to make us pomegranate+red Jell-O. AWESOME.
It's still time-consuming, that's the problem.
Not you-silly, the people dunking the pomegranates in water. I guess they're trying to soak away the juice from the cut seeds?
The fanning method kind of intrigued me, though.
