walking around the docks for lack of something to do; she walks past a blond man and comes to a halt- he looked eerily familiar...
being too busy with observing his surroundings, he fails to notice his surroundings. Most specifically the woman that looked like him.
turns around and taps the man on the shoulder, "Excuse me, monsieur...?"
turned to look at her and couldn't help his eyes widen slightly at their resemblances. "Ah, mademoiselle... can I help you?"
startled, her eyes widen as well. "Ah... I was just... You look a lot like- like me..."
couldn't help but notice this as well. "We do look similar," he mused. "How strange... what is your name, if you don't mind me asking?"
nods in agreement, it felt very surreal... "My name is Marianne Bonnefoy... What is yours, monsieur?"
even more surprised. "Francis... Francis Bonnefoy."
blinks, speechless for a moment. "...Bonnefoy?" A thought occurred to her; did her father leave some poor bastard child behind? He certainly
went out whoring enough for it. "E-Excuse me for asking this, but... did you know your father...?"
did she think he was a bastard child or something?... She would be partially right though. "I know my mother, and that she was taken in by_
the Bonnefoy estate after my birth. I was told I was the third son... not that I expected much. So I made my way here eventually."
( Did you get the private plurk? o3o; -not sure she did it right-)
didn't even know there was a Bonnefoy estate. Her father was a pirate, not some landed noble. "Ah... I'm not a noble of any sort, we aren't_
related then?" She frowns, then why were they so alike?
(I did! I'm a little slow in replying today, trying to do some programming in class. :'D)
thought or a moment. "My father... had a brother that went his own way like me. You could say he was my inspiration for this. Perhaps
"My father was Gene Bonnefoy... Could that be? It would make us... cousins?" She is a little dazed by this revelation. She'd never thought_
she would have actual living blood relatives.
"Oui, Gene. That's what it was... I suppose so." He smiled. She seemed a lot nicer than his other blood relatives.
claps her hands in delight and hugs him. "Cousin~! I have a cousin~ I never thought papa had anyone except me; he never talked about his_
family, so I assumed they were all dead..."
chuckling, he hugged back. "Non, they're alive. Not the nicest people but... they're nobles. They're snobs. You aren't though."
chuckles, "There isn't any place for snobbery out on the open seas. Ah, you're managing the estate or some such, then?"
hesitated. "Not... exactly. More like I was able to pilfer some of the money before I parted from Europe. I may have slept with one too many
chuckles, "I suspect you won't find that a problem around here. Hmm, how have you been surviving then?"
"Well, I'm good at rationing out my money. I'm at my last coins though; I have enough for one more bottle of good wine."
blinks, he was a few coins away from being moneyless and he wanted to spend it on wine? "...what skills do you have, cousin? Were you_
trained in fighting? Perhaps swords?"
knew wine to be one of the finer joys in life and he would spend his last coin on it. "Oui, training in swords and even cartography."
smiles, "You're hired then. You'll join my crew from now on, oui? You can help my cartographer and weapons master~ I was worrying that they_
would be overwhelmed with the work anyway."
grinned. "You're very kind to give someone you just met a job mademoiselle."
shakes her head, "I couldn't leave family out to die, non. I'm pretty sure we're related anyway, and I think you're a good man," she grins.
grins. "Kind and good. When do I begin, captain?"
chuckles and walks away, "How about right now? Come, come. I'll bring you to my ship."
caught up to her quickly and walked beside her. "Ah, I'm quite excited to see your ship. Are you shipmates just as pretty as you?" He
laughs, "Depends on which gender you like~ The cartographer is off-limits though~ She's already mine," she grins.
smirked. "I vow never to touch her. Now the other one... tell me more.~"
"Ohoho~ He's quite handsome, he might be just your type, eh? You'll see," she leads him up the gangplank and calls out to her crew.
"Ah, what makes you assume I'd go for that?~" Not that she was wrong but... people assumed that a lot.
winks at him, "Because we're cousins, non? I might assume it runs in the blood." She introduces him to the crew on deck.
shrugged in defeat. "Your reasoning is infallible.~"
grins at him and tugs him below deck. "Come, come, let me show you your new quarters."
nodded and followed her, his eyes taking in every little detail.
points out the rooms and such, including the weapons store and the map room. Then she shows him where his room is. It's just a small unused_
cabin, but it has all the basic fixtures and is rather clean.
walked into his cabin and looked around. "Very good! Much better than where I have been staying. My thanks.~"
smiles, "The least I could do for family, oui? Go around and meet with the crew, I'm sure they'll be glad to have another person on board."
( Oh, he's meeting the crew alright. eue )
grinned and sat on the bed. "As you say, captain. I'll make sure to introduce myself to everyone."
nods and puts a hand on her hip. "We won't be sailing for a while, we've run into a bit of a problem with a treasure map. Perhaps you could_
help with that?" She hopes he might have some clue, they were really at their wit's end with that map.
looked up at her with a curious look. "I'm not sure how much help I'll be... but a fresh set of eyes is always good."
agrees with that. "We're not quite sure where it leads to, but it's an old map and it feels promising."
sat up and tilted his head. "Sounds profitable. I'll have a look then."
nods and turns to leave. There didn't seem to be anything important left to show him, and he would meet the crew eventually.
