messed it up and learned a ton of papercraft techniques that I'll hopefully never again have to use. 
found out you can use this stuff www.hardwarestore.com/me... to fill papercraft, but it expands and can make a huge mess
but at least now it's more stable/not completely hollow

to find a simple flame border or something to use to cover up where the body and the base connect (I.E where it's most screwed up)
You could glue some tinsel along there
