And then I cried with joy. How did she know that all I want to do with my life is to serve Ira Glass his coffee? Looks like I'm on my way.
would be very fulfilled if I could do that.
not being snarky for the sake of snark here, just an observation, having listened to "This American Life" regularly back in my postal days..
Ira Glass has become a self-centered egotist, full of himself and his own clever self-importance.
and actually, another friend who was also an "American Life" fan brought up the same observation a few weeks ago.
disappointed to see you guys becoming "Glass Groupies" now that he's all trendy and a pal of Joss Whedon and stuff.
now, "Car Talk," that's pure radio awesomeness, untainted by either time or fame. Except for maybe that cartoon diversion.
Trippy agrees with me.
Excuse me,
davidd. Ira Glass brought This American Life into being in 1995, when I was just one year old. My parents started listening to
it in the car shortly thereafter. I spent the greater part of my childhood sitting in the carseat listening to Ira's voice with awe and
adoration. I have had a crush on him since before I was old enough to know what a crush is. My love for him is pure and sincere. When Ira
goes the way of parachute pants and dinosaurs, I will continue to worship those precious combinations of sound waves he so benevolently
bestows on the world each day. I was obsessed with him before it was cool (or even not creepy) to be obsessed with him. I'm just sayin'.
I, on the other hand, only obsess because I'd heard it was trendy. But now I totally hate the sell out has-been. I'm with you,
davidd!
I am the only true believer! Are you reading this, Ira? They're not worthy! Take me with you!
okay, that's cool. And that's also the second reference to "parachute pants" I've heard in as many weeks. Are they making a comeback?
No; I was just watching the 2000 Ethan Hawke version of Hamlet in English class a while ago and I was kind of awestruck at the '90s-ness of
Julia Stiles'/Ophelia's pants.
Ira Glass is older than both
DBlume and myself. Considering his relatively recent upswing on the TrenDar as a hot "new" talent, there's...
... still hope for me in my "become an Adorable Wunderkind" life goal.
, thus, happier now than he was at the outset of this conversation.
Ira is also older than My Favorite Author, who is also, for the record, considerably older than am I; I add this merely as...
... a "just sayin'" non sequitur. And, okay, as a bit of a snark.
how young
davidd is
... isn't there an underlimit for ppl on Plurk
sjonsvenson is also considerably younger than Ira Glass. Not to mention more sophisticated, clever, and doubtless a better cook!
