okay, you could see them as of one minute ago. How'd you do?
40 points better than last time. I am trying not to be sucked into the pit of less-than-2400 self-hatred because rationally I know that my
scores are pretty kickin' relative to 99% of college-bound seniors and anyway I'm not about to take it again but anyway yeah.
found this online. Middle 50% of students at Stanford:
Critical Reading: 660 - 760
* Mathematics: 680 - 780
* Writing: 670 - 760
how many times did you take it?
"less than 2400 self-hatred"? So, anything less than perfect is not acceptable?
I've taken it five times in total. The first time I took it, I was 11 or 12 and it was required to apply to this fancy middle school to
which I didn't end up applying. (No, it wasn't the Catholic one.) I took it again my freshman year, but I don't remember my scores.
I took it in the spring break of my junior year, but somebody called my cell phone near the end of the last section so my whole test was
confiscated and the scores cancelled. They're strict about that stuff. Then I took it in June, then December.
The SAT is the one thing about which I allow my inner Asian to come out and bite me, because somehow my PSAT scores became public my
sophomore year and since then I have had a reputation as a Really Good Tester. I suppose you could call it National Merit Syndrome. Because
I've been recognized as a Really Good Tester, I must score higher than everybody I know. I did it this time--I scored 20 points above the
highest-scoring person I know. But it would have been nicer to score 80 points above him, or 210 points, simply because I have this
inferiority complex when I compare myself to Hemingway wannabes who have better GPAs and more expensive wardrobes than mine.
To the extent I'm making any sense--I'm sure I'm not--I'm pretty petty when it comes to these things.
petty, and perhaps compulsive, but you didn't turn off your cell phone during the test? Uhmmm...
I only took it once. I think my score was, if I remember, either 1320 or 1360. Back then the top score was 1600. That was before the...
... first "re-centering" which effectively added at least 100 points to the typical score. Since then the scoring matrix has been...
... adjusted a few more times, I understand.
of course, I didn't take it when I was eleven.
... and as for Hemingway wannabes... shotgun to the head in Podunk, Idaho; I'm guessin' that as far as "great writers" go...
... Dav Pilkey has a lot more fun, and will live longer.
<wishes> he'd taken the SAT and college apps more seriously.
a "do-over" option on Life.
delighted you stomped the Fancy Boy, even if only by 20 points. And yes, you make perfect sense. At least to me. Which... might not be good.
