why?
as stated by men much wiser than I, "it's better to see a guilty man go free than see an innocent rot in jail". If they can't be sure of
his guilt then they can't condemn him to life in prison... i kinda agree. I just wish the justice system was better implemented
greenlurker: Uh, because the evidence against him wasn't even solid. It's not legally just to keep him there for 20 years
I feel for the patriarch, who wouldn't? Especially if you have your entire family murdered.
But it's also unfair to keep someone who is probably innocent.
so the question is, if it isn't Hubert, who killed them? Because, I can't imagine how horrible our legal system is for allowing the criminal
to walk freely for 20 years.
Point taken. Technically, he's considered innocent. One thing that bothers me is the loss of a specimen/vital evidence in the case.
Why does it have to happen now? I wonder if the justice system has been manipulated again...
I think this whole judicial and investigative system is screwed up. If Webb, et. al are innocent, then i think
greenlurker: I think it's more of the government from before versus the government of today
I think the one before is screwed up
I think the one now is trying to make reparations.
Though I was never a PNoy supporter, I do appreciate that he's making an effort
the government should do all it takes to bring justice to the Vizconde family. :| After 20 years of your family's murder, how devasting it
to stick to proper legalities.
greenlurker: Of course, they should. But first, they have to get the innocent man they imprisoned for 20 years.
to find out that the suspects you believed killed your family aren't really the murderers. FHL. :|
I'm not saying for certain that he is innocent but from the lack of evidence, he's as good as.
There's a huge gap between morality and legality.
If he did in fact take part in the crime, then that is his own burden to carry.
but if he did not, then why is he being punished for it?
There's a huge gap between morality and legality. -- well, I can't argue with that.
Justice is served to the Webb family due to the
lack of evidence. but i hope that justice will be served to the Vizconde family the soonest possible time.
greenlurker: True. I hope they do find the murderer, for his sake and for justice.
If guilt cannot be conclusively proven, the man is innocent. And the logic, regardless of public opinion and media presentation, proves true
Both sides lost on this one: Lauro Vizconde still hasn't found the killers, while Webb and Co. were jailed wrongly for a very long time.
demfae: Personally, whenI read her story, her facts were all based on her observations and not hard case files.
I personally think the writer is too influenced.
Besides, you cannot falsify US documents.
oops, forgot to follow up on this plurk. I noticed what you said when I read it a second time.
I also wondered why Judge Tolentino was quick to dismiss the US documents. If those were forged, the US Embassy should have said something.
Lol, I just find it sad that people's judgement are clouded by all these sensationalized brutality re the murders.
and just because he's the son of an influential man doesn't mean he's already responsible for the crime.
domz: true. Well, people have this mentality that the rich people get away with everything
even if they're innocent and there is no "everything" in the first place.
demfae: I know, it's like the opposite of elitism. :c I mean, why can't we all focus on justice.
You get what you deserve. There's no preference when it comes to law. Or there shouldn't be.
