Michael Soskil's quote gave me an idea....EVERYONE PLEASE drop a line about your best non-trad activity or assessment for ANY age or content

or maybe just tell us about your most exciting learning experience
my favorite was in 6th grade when we were learning about eco conservation and the water cycle
we dressed up in suits and wrote the "news" each day. then we took turns performing it for the class. our teacher actually got us on the
local news and we performed a piece.....it was wonderful!
One of mine was being allowed to make a cotton gin out of cardboard
Mine have always been the simulations, whether it be running a town simulation or an international relations scenario. LOVE the role play!
I had my 3rd graders make a diorama of their favorite animal. They did them at home-so they had unlimited materials.
Then I took pictures of them with the dioramas and pasted them onto sheets with fake news clippings and sent them home.
They LOVED it! We shared them with the class-why they chose that animal and why it was their favorite!
I had 9th graders build "boomwhackers" out of PVC pipes in a unit on sound waves and we played silly childrens music all afternoon.
It is hard to impress a 9th grader but London Bridge and Mary Had a Little Lamb on plastic pipes will do it.
