what is the best way to encourage students to use this fine site for academic discussions? I've been trying, but no luck so far.

I think I'd use it the way I do during the day. Post questions I have to the group and see the plethora of incredible responses

what if you posted a question and asked them to respond and then had a schedule so everyone plurked a ? related to your class
The major problem is I don't have a scheduled "class time". We meet 2 times a week but never have much in teh way of tech .
