This is a series of tutorials by a guy called Paolo Ciccone. He's an experienced 3D industry guy and knows what he is doing.

Two things to note: this is based on using a Mac (oh good gods, how I thank him for that) and it is not SL specific. What it will teach you,

if you like a project-based learning curve, is how to use the Blender interface and tools, and how to look at Blender as more than sculpts.

If you like to have a grounding knowledge before you start on the specifics, this is the place to go.

He's got a sort of peculiar accent, to my ears, but I liked the overall style of the projects. And I hope you, and others, do find it a help

he's still telling me things I know. But I've learned from bits all over the web, so it's fine to get consistent story
