Even if I make mistakes, parents appreciate it when I greet them in their home language at conferences.
I grew up as a bilingual and have since studied languages. For me that question is the same as asking why it's important to communicate.
If you want to talk to people, teach them your language but if you want them to listen to what you have to say, learn theirs.
Understanding and acceptance of other cultures increase and through communication we can avoid misunderstandings and unnecessary conflict.
