and strained, but the color was starting to return to her cheeks. Now that the... problem had been taken care of. She could barely
think properly, having a hard time wrapping her mind around everything that had happened. Shakily, she drew in a breath and when she let
it out, tears slipped slowly down her cheeks.
(Open to anyone who the hospital might call for Maddy in an emergency? XD)

[[no.... Canada... don't make this happan.... nooo.... plz...]]
Arthur rushed from his house to the airport to the hospital. Why did the doctors have to be so vague? What was wrong
with Madeleine? His thoughts went ever which way on that matter, but now that he was here, he quickly pacing towards his daughter's room in
hopes of discovering that matter. The Brit eyes the room number, finding the room with ease. The moment he saw his pale crying
daughter hooked to an IV, his stomach dropped. "Madeleine..." What on earth happened to his little girl?
((Arthur, you're such a good daddy. <333))
Hearing the voice, Madeleine raised her head quickly and immediately started rubbing at her eyes, trying to hide the fact that she'd been
crying and doing a very poor job of it. "U-uh. Hi Arthur. They... said they'd call you. I ..." She sighed softly, and fell silent, still
uncertain of herself and what she should be saying or doing.
((...UK is canada's dad? d'aw...))
Unsure of how to approach the unnamed matter, Arthur took a seat next to the bed within grabbing reach of her. He lets his left hand drift
towards the girl, wiping those stubborn tears of hers. "You don't have to talk." He said comfortingly, not
wanting to bring up the mysterious condition if it would upset her further.
(( ;w; one of canada's dads, yes <33 though I'm the only one thats currently around XDD ))
(( france is still roleplaying?))
(( well... she never quit XD sooooo idk))
Shaking her head slightly, Madeleine tried to forget what she'd been told. But it was difficult. And she wanted to tell Arthur. She wanted
*someone* to know what was going on, even if it hurt to talk about it. "Arthur, I... um..." Drawing in a deep breath, she forced a fake
smile onto her face. "You don't have to worry about Gilbert being godfather anymore, eh?" It sounded terrible, but it was the only way she
could phrase it right now.
((o3o that's good i guess, but last time i checked she wasn't on the character list anymore.../stops spamming this and lurks~))
(( e-eh? ;A; well then I wasn't informed. But I suppose it was evident it was going to happen sooner or later))
((/stops spamming as well ))
He put his hand over her forehead to check her temperature. "Madeleine, what on earth do you-..." It clicked, leaving him
to stare at her in shock. He swallowed a lump in his throat before moving his hand back away from her. Out of all the things it had to be,
why did it have to be this one? The one thing his little girl finally stood her ground to do...had to end like this.
Madeleine winced a little as he watched Arthur's reaction to the news and she looked away quickly, picking at the blanket that was covering
her legs. "I'm... really sorry. I know you were looking forward to... to being a grandparent." She sniffed a little, seeming
to be on the verge of tears again, but she continued to fight them off stalwartly.
Arthur processed the news slowly in his mind, unable to think why the world had to be so cruel. He settled down his thoughts to study
Madeleine on the verge of tears again. Though... The way she was handling this surprised him. Maybe she did grow stronger after all. Unable
to think of anything to say, he slowly stood, encircling his daughter with his arms.
A small gasp of surprise escaped Madeleine as she felt the arms around her. For a few moments, she just sat there in some mild
confusion. Then a small sob broke the silence in the room, followed by another louder sob. Moments later, Madeleine
clutching at Arthur's shirt tightly and trying to stem the sudden outburst of tears she had just dissolved into.
Arthur shushed comfortingly at her and softly rocked her back and forth as if she were a infant again. He slowly laid
a few feathery kisses on the crown of her head, an action he often seen done in books and films, before starting to comb at her hair with
The way Arthur was treating her was certainly comforting and Madeleine found herself calming despite the fact that the tears were still
flowing freely. "I-I'm sorry," she muttered into his shirt, obviously feeling like she needed to apologize.
"You did nothing wrong," he replied softly, a lump in his throat making his voice crack slightly. Seeing Madeleine in this state, Arthur
could feel his own urge to cry along with her, feeling as though there should have been more that he could have done. The man bent his head
back down to kiss her crown again. "I'm so proud of you," he praised quietly into her hair. "So proud."
"P-proud?" Madeleine wasn't sure she understood. He was proud of her for failing at something a woman was supposed to be able
to do? Slowly, she pushed away from him and blinked tear-filled eyes at him. "I..." She shook her head and looked away awkwardly.
Seeing as she pulled away, Arthur also pulled back, folding his arms in front of him feeling awkward after comforting her. "I will
always be proud of you, no matter what. Don't put yourself down because of... this." He blushed in embarrassment, not usually one to talk
about these sort of things. "You did nothing wrong. *You* didn't kill it."
Madeleine's face took on a slightly pale cast at the words and she bit her bottom lip, clutching at the
blankets. "B-but I did. My body did... I..." She breathed in slowly. "It doesn't work right... The... the baby didn't get
the right nourishment..."
He furrowed his eyebrows. "You couldn't help that. Its not your fault." Taking his seat again, Arthur clasped his hands together as if to
pray silently that Madeleine would understand the logic. "Life is cruel sometimes, we can't change that or what has and will happen."
Hanging her head, Madeleine continued to clutch the blanket tightly. "I... I guess." As she breathed in, a small sob
wracked her body. "I just... I just wanted to be a mother so badly..." Her voice came out slightly strangled.
There she goes tugging at the Brit's heart strings again. Arthur placed a hand over her blanket covered leg, rubbing it
slightly. "Hush...I know you did, precious. I know you did."
((Ffff... I have to take off. I might be back later to do more. <3))
(( ajidhaldjs why didn't I notice thisss /lurks ))
[[sniff...omg, you guys really make me cry...sniff]]
(( ;;n;; I know right... /now debating whether to force Prussia to impregnate her or not ))
Blinking, Madeleine found herself staring at the hand on her leg. She took a couple of slow breaths, not really sure how she should be
feeling anymore. She just felt empty. "... thank you, eh..."
