Try using liquify instead of blurring so much. Cause you blurred for the rough edges right?

yea, does gimp have that cause thats what i use or is that just a photoshop thing?

I've never used gimp, but it's just like PS from what I hear so I'd assume so.

What resolution do you take your pictures at?

1280x1024 atm

You should do them as big as you can out of SL and then size them down, so you have more pixels to work with.
