called the camera store to see if they'd work with me on price. $50 off and they would have had my business. They declined to budge.

I doubt that they can't afford to budge at all. I don't think they're selling the lens for cost.

i totally understand, but it seems only $50 off a $200 diff. is workable. feel sympathy 4 moms-n-pops but my wallet can't always.
