How do people feel about single piece boots that attach to lower leg, instead of 2 piece boots for foot and lower leg?

I think it's becoming more and more common, actually, esp. with the advent of 2.0 and alpha layers. SLink is doing it, though attach to foot

I like the smooth look of a single piece, and yay alpha layers. But is limiting avatar motion a problem? Not sure.

Phoe, how can attaching to the foot work well? It seems like the calf part would twist all over.

I dunno, but she does. And they seemed to work when I was wearing them

I think I'll have a look then, thanks.

I got some free in a hunt and I LOVE them.. but my foot does poke thru on Rainbow Viewer, even tho it's 2.0 but prettier

Okay, looking at my boots, I see she's got "fake legs" underneath. It makes them slightly thicker but they work. And it does look good to me

i was reluctant at first, but i think it looks quite good in practice - in RL the range of motion of a foot in boots isn't that big either

the big selling point for me is that the boot looks correct on AVs of almost any size

the attach to foot works with an anim to hold the foot still. i haven't tried that yet b/c i'm afraid it might not work with some AOs

Good point about range of motion, jackal. Ok, I'm slowly getting sold on the idea. Once alpha layers are in widespread use it'll be better.

Personally, I *much* prefer when the boots are 2 pieces. It makes pictures more interesting. I understand the usefulness of the one piece
SassysaurusRex

kind - there are some boots you couldn't reasonably make 2 pieces out of.
SassysaurusRex

But if I have a choice, I pick the 2 piece ones.
i do not like it a lot because i cannot wear my lower leg pant cuffs anymore (when i wear capris or such to the boots)

Ducknipple, interestingly, has done both - included a one piece version, and a 2 pieces version. I think that's very clever - you can

have the smoothness if you want it, or you can use the 2 piece if you'd rather, of if it would look better.

chandni, there are one-piece-boots that are worn on the foot and leave the lower leg attachment point free
humm... boots? at the foot? and if the foot moves the upper part of the boots are in the air without a leg? (thinking)
/usr/sbin/ennui

nope, it runs an animation to keep the foot from moving

i think tya (pixelmode) sells boots like that.
yeah i had shoes like that keeping the feet from moving though that didn't work for all poses ...

Love the idea of one piece boots.

I like single piece boots better because they stay straight on your legs instead of breaking when your AV moves.

wow, I'm really the only person that likes the boots to actually be in 2 pieces? damn.

Yeah, I'm surprised so many people like the one piece boots.

One piece, two piece look all funky when you walk.
SassysaurusRex

I disagree. Badly mad two piece boots look funky when you walk. One piece boots *constantly* look funky on me when I use a pose that

*shock* isn't just a slight variation of standing.

again - I liked ducknipple's approach: provide both, then no one can complain.
