been sharing Molly the Owl with students today. They love seeing her and her owlets. We're kicking off our Wise Owl incentive program too!

What is the Wise Owl incentive program?
our mascot is the Sage. I have a little plush owl that we call our Wise Owl. Students are watched by the Owl. If they are sitting correctly,
doing what they are supposed to, working quietly, and/or trying their best, the owl may sit at their computer. If they get a visit, they see
me at the end of class for a reward. I start with stickers, then move on to pencils, and little trinket/toys like stencils or puzzles.
They can get the Wise Owl as many times as possible, but he usually only selects a few kids each class. I try to make sure each kid gets
a visit at least once. My K-2 kids love it. They pet him and are thrilled when they are "chosen". Some ask if he's real - I say he's as real
as you want him to be. It's cute. I make reminders from time to time during class about what the Wise Owl is looking for & it helps them
self-correct their behaviors. I have had days though when no one gets a visit and then we talk about our choices & how to improve next time.
we are also "collecting shells". A Wise Owl visit earns a student a shell to put in their class bucket automatically. Then as we line up or
travel through the hallways to our other classes, I may add more names to shells for that class. The class with the most shells at the
end of the quarter will have a class prize. We are "filling our buckets" by making good choices.
