ooo, give a review here of how well it does/doesn't work - i have a bunch of tapes I'd like to do the same thing with

So far so good! I transfered two videos last night. It can be set to copy vhs to dvd, vice versa, input to dvd or vhs.

It's got S video input, composite input, and DV input.. which is great I can record my old camcorder tapes too.

I mean you can record in HD or anything.. but it's great for home videos. Can record at different qualities from High to Super Long Play

1 hour on DVD or 6 hours on DVD.

It can be set to automatically make chapters every 5 mins. You can rename each chapter as long as you do it before finalizing the dvd

Can use DVD-r, +R, RW... it's pretty good so far.. doing the job i need it to do.. nothing fancy. If I want fancy i'm guessing I could

rip it to my computer and put it into an editor

yeah, I don't need HD, just to preserve some tapes, both personal and some movies that have never come out on DVD (and maybe never will)
