fans will see your plurks but you will NOT see theirs (it's one-way). Friends will both see each other's plurks.

note that even with friends, you an choose not to follow their plurks but still remain their friend.

& if you set your timeline to 'private to friends only' or 'private to friends and friends of friends' (recommended), you cannot have fans.
