we live in tornado alley anyway...and Ike is supposed to spin off a few..
oh!
hold onto your hat... if you have one
well I'm over the LHC bigblackholemaker thingie...so we should be fine
storms...
them too, but has never met a tornado personally.
met one...as in #1
it treated you with respect.
quite an experience I must admit
tell me more.
absolutely not...about 28 or 29 yrs ago
raised our roof ..literally
I'll try in this short space to tell you the story
*settles down comfortably*
All five of our children were out playing ball withall of their friends
I had just returned home from work
after picking up baby Pam at granma's house
it was a very hot and still day
the sky turned a funny yellow color...and the air seemed to suck in
I ran out the back door calling to my kids
to come in..come in!! there is gonna be a storm!
they all were looking up over our house with their mouths open...I didn't know they had already seen a tornado...
our house was kind of down a hill and you could see the horizon behind it
the rest of the kids were too far away from their homes to run for it..
so the whole bunch came runnin into our house.
I gathered about ten kids into a hallway in the center of the house..my stepson and I dragged my kingsize mattress over the kids
we stuck Pam (the Baby) under the mattress with all the kids..then we went all around the house throwing windows open...so the house would
not explode...you could see the windows breathing..back and forth..in and out...oooh
any way I tried to make it back to the pile of kids under the mattress..but we didn't
so we ran in the kids bathroom and lay down ib the bathtub...it was scary...
well out of all that...we lost about half of the roof of our house...a pit bull dog, named Penny and her doghouse...
never found either one of them...the dog or the doghouse
everybody was safe though and had a wild story to tell.about the day the tornado hit the melton house...
wow! What a story!
intrigued about the windows.
if we had a tornado here, nobody would have a clue what to do.
well done for dealing with it all so well and in good time!
are you due some thunder and lightning now, or high winds only?
I have had that drilled into me since a kid...get to the center of the house..furthest from all the windows..open the windows..cover
no...tomorrow eve probably 60 to 70 mph wind gusts
possible hail & tornadoes
drilled on earthquakes, growing up in Greece.
Oh yeah...I swear snailrind...sometimes I think
have you been in a big one?
you won't have to unplug the computer, then, presumably.
only been in small ones that knock over ladders and break the odd ornament.
yes I will tomorrow night...Ive had the life sucked out of one before!
do you remember the 7.1 earthquake in northern CA in 1989?
you have a comfortable mattress to hide under.
I know...I'll do my PA chant...
I don't hide anymore..all my kids are grown
just been looking at Hurricane Ike online. Yikes!
you'll be right in its path!
aren't you being made to evacuate?
hmm, 100 mph winds... not so bad, I guess... We get tj
you're outsde of the danger zone.
the uk on average gets five to six tornado's a year but very few hit town areas

most touch down just off the coast
American houses don't seem as sturdy as UK ones. Most of them appear to be made of wood.
Pochi lieks can has hidez in tha doovay.
Mononoke is a very brave kitty...
