thing is the resulting drink just tastes like water and the reason I use Mio is if I only have water (besides the fact with my fibromyalgia I have to have electrlytes to hydrate) I won't drink it because it tastes like nothing
I was chronically dehydrated as a child because I refused water
in all the pictures of me as a kid I have horribly chapped lips
Oh yeah taste keeps me dehydrated too!
I haven't tried Mio flavors. Are they tasty?
yeah, they're pretty good
I actually prefer the flavors Great Value has for their electrolyte drops but dad has this thing he won't shop at Walmart
you have to check to make sure they say electrolytes because they also have drops that are only for flavor
so for water, is it that you don't have filtered water?
like does bottled water taste better?
a lot of people just don't like water bc it either tastes like nothing or tastes like dirt to them
it's very common for neurodivergent people to need something interesting to motivate them to drink
we have filtered, but the tap water tastes about the same. in both cases it's just that it tastes like nothing, yeah
I have something with my trachea where I actually have trouble swallowing altogether, like when i eat I have to drink something with each bite of food in order to swallow it or it's not going down
so if the flavor of my hydration drink is unpleasant I'm simply not going to end up being able to make myself at all
yeah I am neurodivergent too. I used to only drink seltzer but I got cold filtered water and I drink about a gallon a day. idk. I also just get thirsty frequently
do you drink seltzer at all? that might be a way to stay hydrated
it is, but it's also something to do moderately or with a lot of teeth brushing. The bubbles are because of an acid and overdrinking it can be bad for teeth. Things we learned the hard way with Husboose from his dentist when he suddenly gained a lot of small cavities in a year.
I am so damned lucky I have amazing teeth then
(not trying to brag I promise - I am just saying that for a while all I drank was seltzer so I am honestly pretty lucky)
the problem with sparkling water is it still wouldn't have electrolytes (I think)
that's the main thing I need
yeah. I don't have great teeth so... it hit me harder. But definitely brush a bit with seltzer was the dentist's advise and don't live on it alone. And yeah, electrolytes are good. I wish sports bevs weren't so expensive.
I figured out that if I use a small squirt of Mio, just enough to flavor it to a point where there's a faint fruity flavor, and then use the Volts stuff, I get an electrolyte drink that replenishes my hydration without having that blood sugar spike feeling
