i'm starting to think that adderall might actually HELP me get to sleep, rather than keeping me awake. i don't have enough data to prove it yet, but it seems like whenever i don't take it i get swept up with random uncontrollable hyperfocus until like 6 or 7am
i'm currently withholding from taking it for a bit to get a better idea of whether it's actually helping me or not, and results are still inconclusive so i'm gonna keep withholding for a few more days
tamping down on my immediate verbal avalanche reaction bc i had to fight to for "adderall isn't causing my sleep issues, i had those before i had the hardcore stimulants", instead just gonna say Extremely Possible that it doesn't hurt or even helps you
also if it does affect your sleep you can try taking it earlier in the day, that's a common way to mitigate it
the latter is what i've been told, quite a lot
but i'm already taking it about as early as i can, i.e. roughly as soon as i get out of bed, or as soon after as i can force myself to
which is still later than the psychiatrists i've talked to have preferred
but as i alluded to above, i have not observed better sleep patterns when i do not take it at all
yeah, if I don't take my Adderall before 10 or 11 am, I just don't take it. but I haven't figured out if this makes my delayed sleep patterns worse or better yet. sending good vibes and hope this is something that can be helped.
listen i mentioned the "earlier" thing out of due diligence, i have (or, had, when i needed it) the data and adderall's affect on my sleep is negligible at best, i'm fully prepared to believe it's the same for you
yeah I take a long acting ADHD med in the morning and then I have a short acting stimulant in the afternoon (around 1-2pm) and I still can take a nap or get to sleep easily. I will say that when I take extended breaks from the modafinil (short acting stim) it will keep me awake more successfully for longer when I do pick it back up again.
they really are "ymmv" drugs since sleep disorder comorbidity with ADHD is high
