-So fucking glad they handle Ranma being upset about having his first kiss that way better, Kasumi and Nibiki still aren't too sympathetic, but Akane seem to actually catches on
honestly, they're doing a LOT of heavy lifting to make Ranma/Akane an actual believable endgame couple
everyone talk about the OG anime, but the OG Manga is just has bad about their chemistry being terrible
(or rather what chemistry they had gets cancelled out by them being absolutely horrid to each other)
Rumiko Takahashi, bless her heart, is not great with romances. Fantastic with comedy yes! but romance is not so much
I actually do have an account for OG Ryoga,
lol the school stylist club - and glad to see actual pushback against the color commentators being creeps
how do they deal with Happosai?
they hadn't gotten there yet
ahhh well that'll be interesting
they're on Shampoo's intro arc
I really hate Rumiko's pervs too though that is more of a staple of Japanese comedy than anything
I wish they can cut him out completely but unfortunately a lot of arcs hinges on his bullshit
and while I respect the cultural difference it doesn't mean I have to like it
(including one that really helps kickstart Ryoga-Ranma's Frenemies bit
I also think even Japan kind of is tired of it too, as you really don't see Master Roshi and Happosai type in newer series
Yeah I haven't really seen the original/read the original manga but I believe that they're falling for each other, even though they're both stubborn and prickly and get under each other's skin easily
I don't know many newer series sadly. The most I hear about are isekai and harem stuff
Just from what I'm seeing
The most infamous modern Roshi is Mineta from My Hero Academia and he's more or less universally loathed
and uh...Demon...hunter...thing
yeah, Mineta feels like a weird holdover
Demon Slayer has Zenitsu who is... eh. Could be worse
(Sacreligiously I find MHA tediously boring but you know that's just me)
MHA's a reasonably standard fusion of super hero and shounen action formulas that tends to live on its execution
honestly I checked out MHA early
the collar seem to add something to Ryoga's design
I do love they keep and even added to the over-the-top reactions of the Manga
I appreciate they toned down some of Ryoga's antics as P-Chan to where he's just mostly passively accepting Akane treating him as a pet instead of actively snuggling in, while NOT shying from the fact that he was really kind of a bastard early on
(though toning some of it down to make Ranma-Ryoga's eventual brash brothery friendship steadier
