I guess they don't catch up to her then
that movie sure was a time
a lot has been said about it
but i think i don't have the strength in my heart to show it grace
I watched it back in university when a friend at the time showed it to us... said friend was in a quarter-life crisis, changed her major three times, was questioning her sexuality, and was months away from dropping out and running off to travel Europe in hostels and house-squatting, so she was really projecting onto Alyssa and everybody in the room knew it
I think that there's a story there but probably not one Kevin Smith should have been directing
incidentally Kevin Smith agrees
Amy is the name of Silent Bob's ex-girlfriend
its a pretty interesting movie! super flawed and i dont enjoy watching it but also is tackling some concepts that are pretty worthy of tackling and i dont think anyone else has attempted talking about but i dont think kevin smith had the language to express effectively
like the movie i think he was trying to make would have been a pretty good movie about some specific aspects of toxic masculinity and heterosexual culture and misogyny but unfortunately very few people who watch this movie came away from it understanding any of what he was saying about that stuff
instead in pop culture it will be forever remembered by people who didnt watch it as a movie that thinks bisexual people dont exist, when in fact it is entirely about how bisexuality does exist but is threatening to heterosexual men due to misogyny so they pretend it doesn't
Okay even as a teenager I got that one
The main dude is not presented as being in the right at basically any point
he's not but man. it's still a weird movie
my argument is not that it's an irredeemable hell movie about how lesbians need a good dicking it's that, the movie as it is written is very weird
it gets a bad rap for reasons that are not really accurate to the content of the movie but also you can very easily see how they got there
yeah i dont disagree like i said i really dont enjoy watching it and i think half the people who did watch it took away such the wrong message from it
but i think its interesting
