hibiki is the one that for thirty episodes is the wildest, most unique kamen rider show ever made, and then toei fired everyone working on it behind the camera because they wanted extra money in the budget to finish the series properly, to put it simply (it's not that simple), and shoved the first people to say "yes" to the job in to replace them

unfortunately for everyone involved the first person to say yes to replace the lead writer was toshiki inoue, who courts burnout regularly because he has never once said "no" when toei asks him to do anything, and because he was in near-burnout mode at the time the last half of hibiki is one of the worst things he's ever written.

also i can't believe asumu's actor from it was in a BL drama and this is the first i've learned it. it makes sense, though. he kind of seemed like if the role were offered and he had interest he'd be good at something like that, probably. which is a weird thing to say, i fear, but sometimes performances just have The Energy
