dammit sage there are too many options here.
LMAO FAIR i have both many fandoms and many opinions
but ooooh that's a good once since i don't really TALK about the mcu much. uhhh let's see! The Marvels Was Good Actually. Civil War needed a much longer buildup to be truly effective, whichever movie it was in. I'm still so salty about the GotG movies as adaptations that despite knowing I'd probably love them as their own thing I have not watched them
I've enjoyed various bits of the MCU a lot but Agatha All Along is the first time I've ever felt like, ACTIVELY FANNISH about it
Mood, MCU GotG is not even kind of pre-MCU comic GotG. I actually went and read some after the first movie and liked it so much more?
/FISTBUMP It's SUCH a different tone, most of the characters are drastically different, they took out my badass tragic lesbians
Comics Peter may be the worst part since for a good while there his characterisation pivoted SO HARD to MCU Peter
That is not Quill, stop it!!
purkle the biggest hot take of all: no showrunner is either the perfect chosen one or satan incarnate
rtd, moffat and chibnall all had their own very specific writing quirks, flaws, triumphs and absolutely WRETCHED executions/decisions
and people have twisted themselves into SO many knots interpreting things in the worst faith possible to make their Unfavorite look like a hack/a monster/etc
and you get this with every era but i'm saltiest about it with twelve's because he's my very favourite, and like -
"well of COURSE he made missy all about the doctor that's how he writes women" HAVE YOU EVER PAID ATTENTION TO THE MASTER, EVER,
"ugh why is twelve such an asshole to soldiers even if they're fighting daleks" hmm. HMMMMM i wonder
it's not like this man shouted I HATE MYSELF out loud in an episode or anything
(i hate this idea that moffat is the Most Cleverest Boy and anyone who doesn't like a twist or whatever just doesn't get it! but i also hate people who accuse you of that when like, no, you're just. you're just not paying attention to what is on the screen in front of you)
so the x-men as a metaphor have never been perfect - it can't be a 1:1 map to real life and trying to force it can end up really awkward and unfortunate, and they shouldn't be a substitute for actual real minorities
that anti-mutant bigotry is silly on a narrative level because "other people with powers don't get hate like that"
yeah mean. yeah prejudice doesn't make sense.
if anything it reinforces the level of hatred and fear going on, beyond the extremely valid anxiety of living in a world where people can explode you with their mind
mutants as a metaphor becomes WEAKER if you take out all the other crap.
