Sounds about right. (Can they really have a non-elected house president?)
There never has been, but there is no rule against it.
The constitution says the House shall choose a speaker, but it doesn't have any requirements on who that person can be.
It's merely tradition, and these people seem to get aroused by ignoring traditions.
Ok, thanks for the precisions. Then yes, they will totally name him president of the house. And he's going to love it. I just wonder about that rule of the president of the house being second (or third) in line in case the president can't keep being president, vs. the (constitutional) rule that the president has to be born in the US.
