two chapters a month is still a p decent pace, but it's literally double the time mangaka get right now
it'll save on health breaks that most mangaka end up taking nowadays
and you can have MORE series running concurrently because, like, you can still release the magazines weekly,
just alternate series in each one
I honestly don't see any downsides!
The problem is WSJ especially always kowtows to the worst, most entitled fans at the expensve of their creatives
We know but it’d still be nice
Some fans don't care if they kill the creative so long as the chapters are on time
If they're going to keep up that kind of schedule, they at the very least need to plan this stuff further in advance so the creators have time to build up a buffer.
from my understanding though, editors tend to make changes based on feedback so like, in that sense it makes sense to do things without that buffer. "hey this character is popular keep them in" "change the way things are going this isn't doing so hot" whatever.
so even just letting them build a buffer would be a big change to the way things work
and also of course "hey we decided to cancel your series you have three weeks to give us a finale"
Yeah executive meddling is apparently SUPER common at WSJ
I feel like a lot of series start strong and end messy and giving the creators more time to cook would help that a ton
two weeks instead of one means you can do some research and planning instead of just drawing drawing drawing
At first I thought you meant twice a week instead of once every other week and was like “aren’t mangaka’s already dying from being overworked and shit?” But yes I would support slower updates with mangakas getting paid the same/more
Also the English language is dumb
