I am well aware we are past Halloween. I dun care. Castlevania has been a big part of my life since high school damn near 20 years ago. This is the cover art for the first game I ever got to play.
Harmony of Dissidence dropped me into the Castlevania universe when I was a Sophomore or Junior in high school. Can't remember exactly. It was a Christmas gift along with a GBA.
As more games came out, I played more. Heck, one game I even played with my mom. We both had one game. Fuck. I can't remember the name. It was on Xbox and Playstation. The one with Hector.
My mom would have loved the Netflix Castlevania series if she was still here today. She might not have been the best mother (I will admit she was emotionally and sometimes physically abusive to me and my sis growing up) but she encouraged my nerdiness.
She also would have gone nuts over the Diablo 2 remake. That was the other series we kind of played together. One of the first PC games we got when we lived out in the middle of nowhere. I will never forget the freak outs I had while playing sometimes.
We had no screen door. I live in Texas. Summertime. JUNE BUGS ARE FUCKING STUPID AND I HATE THEM. There would be a tiny THUNK against the screen....and then something in my hair.
