so i have her trained (ish) to come get a squeezy treat because i keep them in the vegetable drawer in my fridge. so she hears the drawer rattle and comes running to sit on the mat by the stove for her treat

In some ways it's better to give in and reinforce the behavior as long as she doesn't try to get treats every time you go in the fridge.
