I saw my Uncle last night, and he sent me home with one of my late Aunt's collectables. She collected lots of antiques, but among them a number of racist caricatures. He seemed to think it was funny, and I didn't really know what to do, so I took it, but feel very uncomfortable having it around.
It is an old moving iron bank, the back stamped 'jolly n word bank'. I feel like it could do some good as an educational example or something, but i wouldn't know how to go about getting it in the right hands :/
do you have a local historical society that isn't weird Lost Cause folks? they might know someone who could take it even if they don't want it themselves
Good tip for researching is to get in touch with archives. Archives often have connections with historical societies and might be able to point you to people that would be interested
