The second Wednesday of each month has been dubbed "Collaboration Day," and on that day those of us who telework come into the office in person.Just one day a month, probably to placate the Governor or something.
Well, anyone who has seen anything I've posted on social media in the last month knows that there's a very good reason why I can't make it into the office in person. Can't drive on a healing-but-still-infected foot.
(Technically I could make it in, but that would necessitate me taking the 93 bus to NTC, the High Speed Line into 69th Street, and the El all the way up to practically the end of the line. All to get there by 8:30. Thanks, hard pass.)
So when I told my boss that I can't make it, she said that "We cannot telework on Collaboration Day, so if you can't come in you have to take a day. Annual or Sick Time, your choice."
So tomorrow, despite my being perfectly willing and able to sign onto our system and catch up on my work, I have been specifically disallowed from doing so. Because government bureaucracy.
