This is the anesthesia thing, not the United thing.
One of the many many reasons I'm glad mom and I aren't forced to use Blue Cross Blue Shield. That one year where we had that just sucked.
I'm glad they are backing down because that was bullshit

I've seen 'this was Big Anesthesia whining that they can't bill for random bullshit anymore,' but... I keep coming back to 'there was no audit and therefore no proof that things need to be changed.'

Also, what was said might have been 'we're changing billing standards for when things run long,' but what people heard was 'we're going to tell them to let you wake up on the table.'

Not to mention it would create more headaches for doctors than necessary. And they have it bad enough.

why would the anesthesiologists care, they'd get paid either way. the punishment would fall to the patient's wallet and they have no control over what the anesthesiologists bill them for

that's the issue, like. they're saying anesthesiologists are billing for unnecessary things but putting the consequences on patients

you also never know what might actually happen on an operating table. my last operation ran longer than expected because they ran into issues, and they put all of that info in the surgical notes, descriptively

Quinn's gallbladder removal was significantly longer than standard.

(And like I said, they can say 'we want to streamline the billing' or whatever, but what people will hear is 'we're going to tell them to let you wake up on the table.')
