Summary: the new Avatar is an Earthbending native named Pavi. She is disabled and uses a prosthetic leg. She has a feline animal guide.

Pavi has a twin and it's believed she somehow got left behind or disappeared and the White Lotus is training her twin, believing them to be the Avatar.

The Four Nations no longer exist, due to a cataclysmic event Korra tried (and presumably wasn't able to) stop; there are now seven "havens" scattered around the world

.... at first glance i was about to complain that the next animated series isn't an adaptation of the kyoshi novels but hot damn

I'd be curious to see if Pavi is the only Avatar, or they decide to go with twin Avatars

man that'd be cool, esp if like

pavi can only bend, say, earth and fire and her twin can only bend air and water

That was my thought, too

And it would avoid the inevitable "twin turns evil/angry and bitter and estranged when they find out they aren't the chosen one" plot

oh i really hope that's true! especially because there must be a reason the White Lotus thought she was the Avatar so strongly they took her away to train (like say if an Earth-born person can only bend water)

so twins having to work together to be the Avatar is a fantastic idea

yeah tbh if it was "character B was taken in by the people who train the avatar thinking they're the avatar, but it's actually A and the bitterness and feeling of abandonment by B eventually leaves them open to being an antagonist" Is...... too much of a retread of the kyoshi novels actually

so i'd much rather have them go the working together route

from what i remember of Korra it has a lot of themes of Korra having to destroy her enemies for the good of the world

epic stuff but not exactly kum bai ya or whatever

so yeah it would be really nice if this new show is about how we all have to work together to overcome the odds and whatnot

we need that kind of show right now
