I went in on Friday for a follow-up with the foot doctor (thanks to qzzus for the ride). While there I exhibited fever and chills, and with a high temperature they re-admitted me.
As it turns out, I had a reaction to the antibiotic they had had me on for the previous week - the one where I didn't miss any of the needed thrice-daily doses for a full seven days. Not a deadly allergy, but an allergy nonetheless. Fever, chills, and an unsightly but non-bothersome red rash.
Good News: the rash is gone and the old antibiotic is being flushed out by my system; the fevers are subsiding as well. They're putting me on a different antibiotic, which will not require three daily doses. Meaning I can sleep regular hours again.
Not-So-Good News: I will still have six weeks of this course, plus all kinds of follow-up appointments and home care as the foot (hopefully) heals slowly. So I'm not out of the woods yet, but in theory there is at least a path to be traveled. Here's hoping...
I will likely be putting out feelers for rides for appointments here and there. I can use LYFT if need be, so nobody needs to put themselves out as far as work schedules. But any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
