I read something about how the last carrier pigeon from WW1 died, and there was a massive mourning for it/that last connection to what we lost, and the guy was saying that was what set humans apart from other animals. if humans were the one that died, would the pigeon care? no, and thats what makes humans so beautiful, they can think and care this deeply
