I call back with meter numbers in hand.

“We only have one property under that address” “okay so why do you have two meters then??” “...one second, what was the other number?” “(Reads it)” “that isn’t our meter” “the fuck it isn’t, I was there when it was installed. My question is why you decided to cancel my service without checking with me yet?”

“Well the previous tenant had moved.” “Nope. Been here the whole time. You need to fix the addresses in your system because you still have us as one house.” “Well we can’t. You have to get verification” “oky where do I go to do that”

“Either emergency services or the town clerk or city assessors office.” “Okay so once I call them will they call you to verify or do I need to do that?” “Well they won’t call us so you have to get official letterhead from the city to prove you’ve got two units there”

I call the city assessor

“Yeah we know you’re two units, we’ve been fucking taxing your property as units 1 and 2 for five years now. I don’t know why national grid won’t update their records but just send them your property bill” “thanks”

Jay comes by with a gas bill. He had wondered why national grid was sending him shit. His unit runs on oil. Which means he has OUR GAS AND EECTRICITYY BILLS and we??? Are just getting free electric I guess????
