Leave me here to rot, I guess!!!!
"Oh ziri you should just do digital it's cheaper" how about leave me to my tears I hurt so badly after working digitally it takes me ten times longer to do anything digitally
The learning curve to make digital art look anything like my traditional art is HUGE and I hate it
aw honey im so sorry. feels like everyone's livelihoods are seriously going to just get harder.
Am I catastophizing??? Probably!!! Is this likely just the stress of everything happening all the time constantly out of my control? Also Probably!!!!!
2024 has been GARBAGE, sweet pea. i cant fault you for that.
I just need things to not be awful for five minutes
albaaulbath: I'm legit just sitting here crying I don't know how I'm gonna make anything work, I gotta restock my inks before I can finish a commission that's been very patiently waiting for me for over a year now
How much do supplies generally go for at this moment? Do you know what a rough estimate would be?
i have also abandoned digital fwiw
traditional is so much better for my mental health and I like having an object and honestly with AI and stuff on the rise I just...meh
but yeah agree you had a shitty of shittiest 2024 and its okay if brain wants to vent on a specific topic. and are supplies ARE expensive to start with
yeah like, i respect traditional and digital art both, but also everyone specializes in different ways that just makes sense for them
i could TECHNICALLY sculpt digitally but it feels better to do it traditionally
albaaulbath: about $3.50 per ink refill right now, if I remember right but it's been ages since I was able to go to my art supply shop that sells stuff at warehouse prices
portolan: right!!! It's hard, it's awful, I just want ink on my hands and to be able to smell and hold what I made!! It's the only joy I get in life some days
And I imagine it's for a good amount of markers and so on since that's your preferred medium. How many markers approximately?
I know that sounds super dramatic but I'm barely hanging on right now
hey, if that's where you find joy that's important!
I don't have much that's mine but this hole was made for me I just wanna color
I just want to make nice things!!!!
I'm gonna do some cleaning while I'm in between cry fests and hopefully that helps
I would also like to question about like. how much an ink refill can last! since that's something I don't know
Yeah and I mainly ask to see if it's possible that I can do a donation so you can get supplies before prices increase next year
So having a rough cost will give me a good idea
draconic: OKAY SO THIS IS WHY I LOVE COPIC MARKERS because a refill costs the same as a new marker, but depending on which marker you're refilling, it lasts for ten refills
and so I get one New Ink Bottle for the price of one marker but get ten markers out of it
downside....I have...a lot of markers
we built up a full collection of Copic markers over ten years
so by 2013 we had every color they've released
(yes i got my first markers in like, 2000-2003 they have mostly survived that long)
Yeah same on it sometimes being my only joy during my hardest years. No shade on digital just..it doesn't give me the good feelings and I sure need them
hmm. maybe grab refills on colors you know you use frequently?
that was pretty mcuh how i've been doing things so far, I get refills for my most-used colors
some of us outside the us could probably also mail you some
i actually still have some inking stuff from Japan I've been meaning to mail you, if you want to try out zebra nibs
Aaaa
do you have dip pen inks or would you need that as well? I think I've got some I haven't been using, just need to figure out how to package it safely
I have two dip pen inks I think
