maybe you can message them and see if they have her listed anywhere else
yeah I was thinking I might do that
i'd be okay with paying up to like 150$ if that wasn't like 54358439573489 bucks in fees
I just tossed them a message, lets see if they get back to me. if not its fine, i'm sure i'll have other chances to grab her!

Usually a processing fee is when the banking service that's managing your transaction charges the seller an amount for using the service. Usually this is very low, and when you get those charges you can choose to either absorb them, or pass them on to the customer. Most large retailers absorb them, most small ones pass them off

because of how economies of scale work, that's sort of the smart way to do it, in each instance

If you're doing a direct bank transfer, that's usually cheaper

this sort of thing is part of how companies like VISA and Mastercard make their money— whenever money passes through their hands, they take a bit off the top.

paypal, venmo, zell, all these services do the same thing as well

the Service Fee is maybe the cost of packing the order? That's an unusual charge for a small, physical item. Usually this would be the duty of an employee, who would be paid by the company, with that cost being absorbed, not passed on to the customer, so I don't know why they'd stick it in here... Have you tried clicking on the little question mark???

I'm mystified about why that's so much

Micabean: in this case though it's the seller who packs the order so why the fuck does Mercari charge it lol

Schist: it's a newish change that Mercari made, there's nothing the seller can do about it
antler queen

for a while they'd added more fees for everyone and there was huge backlash so they walked it back and now it's just on the buyer
yeah they had seller fees like you'd put it up and Mercari took a chunk of the profit - I think it was 15% or something idr
people have been hoping that it will get undone but so far they've stuck by it
